Blessed to have my mom around, she has been my guiding force throughout the years and I am who I am today because of her, happy mother's day to all of you.
As far as me DJing, being a workaholic was one of the big reasons why I stopped playing out as much, the other was just being a devoted father to my kids who obviously come first, however as of lately what has reignited my love for DJing is mixing 45s, I love a challenge and to me it is technically way more difficult to mix records that were meant for jukeboxes than clubs, you have to be almost surgical to make 2 records work, the needles tend to jump often, and back cueing is a pain, the pay off is when people don't even realize you are playing 45s, last night some young guy asked if I was playing CDs, I almost busted out laughing! 😂 Anyhow I just want to invite everyone to come out early to EOLA this Saturday, DJ Mando N Navarrete is the Curator and host and he has a stacked line up of talented 45 record DJs throughout the night.

Woke up this morning and had a Pioneer Opus Quad repair in mind, something was rattling inside and I didn't like it, turns out it's just a broken plastic screw support, nothing a little epoxy glue can't fix. I still consider this controller the best bang for the buck!!

With all the madness happening in the world right now, the one thing that has always been consistent in my life is..music, I want to thank all of you who have checked up on me since my surgery, I'm on the mend now and focusing on organizing my 45 vinyl collection, hopefully going back to work this week and getting ready to help create a magical 2026 summer concert series at Grand Performances.
The only thing I wish I could do when playing out is to record my sets, Friday night I played my heart out and I was very happy with the results, in 2026 I'm getting back into producing and remixing so be on the look out for some cool projects!
It's going to be almost 2 years since Tony Powell and I launched Laces, the idea was simple, 2 DJs...and only 2 DJs all night, we wanted the music and vibe to be consistent, I made the decision that if I was going to play house music I would rather play out a few times a year rather than getting crappy gigs or having to prove myself to anyone, so far I've come to really appreciate this special night, real dancers letting loose and 2 DJs giving it the best they got, if you haven't been, come down and experience house music in its purest form, uninterrupted and with no boundaries.
