Konica Hexar AF - Kodacolor 200
Model: @jackietien
For this specific shoot, I wanted to shoot it on Kodacolor 200. I liked the way the colors popped in that last roll I developed. The shots that came out from this shoot was exactly how I envisioned it.
I grew up hating the Ao Dai because it was so tight, and I felt embarrassed dressing so ‘Asian’ in public. But now that I’m older, I appreciate it so much more..the beautiful lines, the silhouette, and everything it represents about my culture.
Looking back, I think little me was trying to fit a mold I thought was for me, but it wasn’t. I was meant to create my own path and just be whoever I wanted to be. Being born and raised in Texas shaped me just as much as my roots have, and I now love being both a sweet Southern gal and a strong Vietnamese girl. Mixing the two personalities for this shoot was sooo fun.
@dnguyenphotography gorgeous photography + genius denim idea!👖
Vietnamese American
It’s been something I’ve thought about since I came back from Vietnam. I thought about the places across the states that our parents choose to settle their roots in. A space where they can feel the most at home after being uprooted from another. How everyone’s experience growing up in America is different and the styles that emerged from their communities.

Started dance classes this summer and I can’t stop going. It’s so humbling and low key stressful but I’m learning how to have fun. I love moving this body ody!!
Thank you @danielgraye_ for always pushing me!
