Meet Jackie!!
Jacqueline Franklin is a Fashion Design student attaining a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts through the Columbia College of Chicago. Through her studies she has combined the technical skills of Product development with artistic conceptual development and storytelling in fashion. Her design vision places a focus on the art of blending the dynamics of contemporary fashion, streetwear with Avant Garde fashion. Her goal is to create clothing that makes people feel more like themselves. Her creative process integrates the use of repurposed fabrics and integrating non fashion materials into her creations.
Prior to her attendance at Columbia, Jacqueline had expressed an intrigue in fashion where she interned for Krispy Fringe Vintage. Where she got her first start in ecommerce and styling with Vintage fashion, finding an appreciation for the history of vintage fashion. In the coming years she then launched herself in the world of design through the reworking of ready to wear fashion. She then shifted focus to repurposing raw materials for contemporary wear, also establishing a clientele through clothing alterations and seamstress work. In addition to her early roles in fashion Jacqueline has had a start in business through Harold Washington College. While she attained an associates degree in Business and Management . It helped her develop skills that she would later put to use in fashion. Establishing an
entrepreneurial mindset. From there she worked in various roles from Payment analyst to an Assistant business manager. The experience derived from those roles introduced her to the skills of Project presentation, relationship building, Market research and trend analyst and more.
Since her experience in designing full time Jacqueline has worked a s Costume Design Assistant for a UnitedWay Health care commercial. She has also done costume design for Various local Musicians including Ano Banks, Aniet Soul and Jessica Jordan Ping.
Her storytelling derives from creating to bring a character to life. She works to create clothing that can be adopted for any individual regardless of age, gender and physical ability.
