You know I’m a sucker for throwback trends. In 2016, I was finishing my MFA in creative writing at Sarah Lawrence. I had a kid in kindergarten and I was working on my first book.
Today? I have a kid graduating college(!!!), and other kids looking at colleges. My SIXTH book is about to publish this summer. I traded in my Coke Zero for Fresca.
And the best thing is not something I could fit on this little post - it’s the group of author friends I’ve made in the last ten years. I’ve grown as a writer, and it’s in part due to the incredible women I’ve been able to call friends and mentors 💕

If you’ve seen any posts about my August release, BREATHING UNDER WATER, you’ll know that one POV is from the mother of an autistic son. We watch Berry struggle with the mental load of all mothers. But we also see what she carries as a mom with a neurodivergent son: constantly worrying about his safety, about his happiness, about his future.
While Leo’s autism is part of the story, it isn’t the focus. With Breathing Under Water, I wanted to write a story where a teen with autism isn’t sidelined or saved, but is instead at the heart of the story, helping someone else find her way. (This is where our second narrator, college athlete McKenna comes in.)
World Autism Acceptance Day is more than talking about a diagnosis - it’s about supporting and empowering individuals to be their authentic selves.
(And yes - they gave me an even prettier cover. I didn’t think that was possible!)
