I’ll be moving out of my studio in less than a month. There’s a few pieces left for sale which I’d love to send to a new home before I leave. If you’re interested you can find all the available work on my website store page, I can ship pretty much anywhere and UK shipping is free! Huge thanks to all who purchased a painting over the last few months too.

Studio sale! I’m planning on leaving the studio space I’ve been in for the last 3 years. Put simply; I currently don’t have the time and energy to sustain a painting practice, and continuing to rent a studio no longer makes sense - so it’s time to move on for now. To help with the transition I’m hoping to move all of the paintings you see listed on this post to a new home through the means of a small studio sale! Prices are reduced significantly, just take a peep at my store - linked on my profile. Thank you!

It’s been a while but here’s a quick study for some upcoming work. This is the first painting I’ve done since February, a good 6 months ago. It was hard to find my footing at first but I quickly slipped back into the rhythm of things, what a relief. Hopefully more to come. Today I got the news that all three of my submitted paintings got rejected from two different portraiture open call exhibitions here in London. These rejections are always tough. I’m not looking for sympathy - I think it’s important I share my failures as well as successes. Time to move on to some more paintings (I didn’t even want to be in those shows anyway)

It’s been a little quiet on the painting front over the last month, mostly because I’ve been learning how to frame! Here’s one I finished this week (yes it took far longer to make the frame than the painting) #portraitpainting #pictureframing #figurativepainting

Trying out some new techniques and processes through layering. Here I started with a monochrome painting, then I let it dry, glazed with colour, and finally added wax on top of the wet glaze with my fingers. Let me know what you think! FOR SALE - follow the link on my profile to my website. Oil, wax, spray on linen 30x24cm #contemporaryportrait #figurativepainting #portraitpainting #coldwaxmedium

Trying to paint faster and looser as of late, to varying success. The majority of this painting was done in one session, figure and background. Which is something I didn’t think I’d be able to do at this scale. I find I often hit a wall and bail before I can cover the whole canvas, a habit I’m hoping to leave behind this year. Also, drop a comment if you can name the painter or painting on the wall 🤔 #figurativepainting #figurepainting #portraitpainting

Sketchbook spread. Three minute drawing vs one hour drawing (ish). Much pushing, pulling, erasing, and redrawing on the portrait. Those tilted angles always throw me off, I find I can’t trust my eye to measure and approximations fall short 🤷‍♂️ #portraitdrawing #drawingsketchbook #moleskinesketchbook

Here’s my finished painting of Martha Kearny from my @artistoftheyear episode that aired this week! A pleasure to take part, and a surreal thing to watch back. #portraitartistoftheyear #paoty #portraitpainting

I can’t remember when I started this exactly, which is evidence of how long ago it was. I can however tell you the idea came from a photo I took back in May of 2022, so I could argue it’s been in the making for two and a half years. It was a very ambitious large scale full figure painting that went through many difficult and uncertain layers, which as you can see are now masked by a layer of thin fog. When going back to an idea that started so long ago your initial intentions become hazy and you can totally lose what inspired you in the first place - which can make it hard to measure the paintings success. I’m wondering if I met my intentions here. I’m not really sure, but I like the painting nonetheless. Untitled 100x75cm Oil and wax on linen #figurepainting #portraitpainting
