𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗞𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘀 Jack Hirons @jackhirons The Journey Lower Gallery, TKE Studios Preview 18 April 6-8pm 19 April – 7 June 2026 Tracey Emin Foundation presents new paintings by Jack Hirons, marking the culmination of his year as the Dame Tracey Emin Fellow. Over the course of the fellowship, Hirons refined his focused approach to monochrome painting, working with careful control of pigment, tone and surface. The paintings draw on landscape imagery and recurring forms such as reflections and pathways. The works do not describe a specific location. Instead, they consider how images arise from physical matter and how material moves through cycles of change. Hirons approaches painting as a process of transformation, where the image remains connected to the world from which it comes. The exhibition brings together paintings developed during a year of sustained studio work and ongoing dialogue.

‘Bodies of water recur throughout, functioning as images within the image — reflective surfaces that introduce a second plane, dependent on what surrounds them. Pathways move through the scenes, suggesting movement and agency within these spaces, while exposed roots form network-like structures beneath the surface. These elements are not fixed symbols, but shape how the image is entered and navigated.’ Permanent Evanescence 2026

Jack Hirons makes paintings that pull you in slowly. Monochrome, atmospheric, precise. Not a view you're looking at but a world you're standing inside. The Journey is on now, running until 7 June. It's the culmination of Jack's year as the Dame Tracey Emin Fellow, and it's absolutely worth your weekend. The studios are open this Saturday and Sunday (and every Sat + Sun for the rest of the run) from 12–5pm. Free to visit. Link in bio for more. 🖤

On Track 2026 Oil on Canvas 153cm x 213cm Working in monochrome, the paintings are built through opposition. Black defines white as much as white defines black; presence holds only in relation to absence. Each depends on the other to exist. Forms emerge through both application and removal, so that addition and subtraction are not only opposites, but equal conditions of the same image. The Journey, continues @tkestudios until 7th June.

Really looking forward to opening my new show this weekend. I’ll be presenting a new body of work that I have developed during my time as the Dame Tracey Emin Fellow here at @tkestudios . Many things were tried, tested, picked up and put down but I’ve arrived at a series of paintings I’m excited for you to see. Thank you to @traceyeminstudio for giving me this time, space and guidance to shift my work into a more expansive expression of the ideas I have long been concerned with. The Journey, opens this Saturday with a preview 6-8pm. Then runs until 7th June. I hope you can make it. Dawn in the Void 2025 120cm x 100cm Oil on Canvas

If you didn’t get chance to see my work Oxford to Abingdon installed for Off Season in January, I have uploaded it in two versions on my website. Both the audio recital of it that was playing in the installation and the original PDF of the transcript from the conversation. I invite you to print the PDF in order to obtain a physical edition of the work for yourself and if you can physically get it in front of me, I’ll happily sign it. Next show opens @tkestudios on the 18th April - 7th June. Roll up, roll up.

Thank you to everyone who visited The Quart during @offseasonmargate to see More Natural Scenes. We really didn’t expect such a busy private view and the response throughout was amazing. If you couldn’t make it or want to return for a quieter look the exhibition is on view by appointment only until 22nd February.

Oxford to Abingdon 2026 CD-R, Car Stereo, Door Speakers Runtime - 25.39 Minutes Currently on show as part of More Natural Scenes. @offseasonmargate map number 66. This work uses a conversation between myself and ChatGPT 4 that happened in April 2025 as the script for an audio drama? documentary?. Within it we call and respond on subjects of the environmental and ecological impact of AI, duality, agency, the stock market, making paint. Eventually we discuss the idea that our conversation is indeed a work of performance art and then equate the carbon output of the conversation we’d had to that of a journey in a petrol car, from which the title of the work is derived. ChatGPT is played by Adobe Firefly text to speech model I (Jack) play myself

More Natural Scenes w/ @tom_gidley @studiodanbass this weekend for @offseasonmargate ! At Tom’s new space The Quart on Charlotte Square. A three-person exhibition of paintings and mixed media works loosely themed around our perception of reality, nature and our place within (or outside) it. In an age of accelerated change what is a natural scene, what could make it more so – and is any scene unnatural?  This is will be first taste of what I have been quietly working on here @tkestudios ahead of solo show in the spring. Hope you can make it, set to be an incredible Off Season Weekend!
