I’ve decided to adopt the technique of “method drawing,” in which I completely immerse myself as a character before sketching them.
A full 24 hours as Gollum wasn’t easy, and by the end I not only empathized with the creature, but actually became him. When it came time to put pencil to paper, I could barely focus on the task at hand. A voice in my head kept whispering… “my preciousss.”
