London Marathon 2025 in Memory of Susan Margaret Forsyth – Completed! 🏃 🇬🇧 ☀️ ❤️
That’s it, folks—we did it! 540km over the training programme, culminating in the big 42.2km on Sunday. And £10,400 raised for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
It was an incredible day—though a warm one. I started out strong, covering the first 25km quickly… then I hit a wall. My legs seized up, and it was sooo hard not to slow down to a walk. At times it felt like I’d never reach the finish line. It asked something of me I’m not sure I’ve encountered before, but I dug deep and got there in 4 hrs 31 mins.
And I couldn’t have done it without the support. Thousands of people lined the streets from start to finish, cheering on people they didn’t know. Spotting familiar faces in the crowd really did serve as a turbo boost. I’m so thankful for all my friends and family who came out to support me—special thanks to Izzy and Dad, who came from Spain and Toronto, and to Daniel for putting up with me over the last few months.
It was really special to have everyone together post-race, and I think Mum would have very much enjoyed meeting all my friends and hanging out in the sun by the river.
I want to say a huge thank you to every single person who donated. It’s been incredibly emotional seeing everyone come forward—those who knew Mum sharing stories, and those who didn’t, keen to know more about her. This process has made me feel close to her again, and I think she’d be really touched by everyone’s effort. The initial £2.5k target felt daunting, so to have exceeded that by so much is a testament to what an incredible and loving woman Mum was.
