Step inside the greenhouse with Jacquel Curry 🌱
This is where our baby plants grow big and strong before they’re ready for the field. Right now, we’ve got plenty waiting to find their home in the soil, and that’s where you come in.
Join us for our Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 25th! We’ll be planting, celebrating, and getting our hands dirty together. And if rain decides to show up? Even better for our crops. We’ll be out there either way.
Come spend the day with us, rain or shine. 🌍

Challenge 11 of 52: Direction Changes Everything
Theme: Focusing on Directing the Subject
Scripture: Proverbs 4:7
Same lighting. Same settings. Same subject. The only variable? My direction.
This challenge was harder than I expected. Keeping everything else constant forced me to resist the urge to make changes and instead focus on clearly communicating my vision. I had to find the words to bring what was in my head to life in front of the camera.
The biggest takeaway? My words are powerful.
Shoutout to my sister for being my subject.

Challenge 10 of 52: Self-Portrait Pt. 2
Theme: Being Intentional
Scripture: Romans 12:2
As I mentioned on Day 1, I used to avoid the camera at all costs. A classic introvert. But this challenge taught me something I needed to hear: God doesn't see what I see when I look at these photos. He sees someone He formed intentionally and called good. He sees purpose. He sees His MASTERPIECE. I've come to realize that this challenge is an act of surrender. A choice to see myself through His eyes. And every time I press the shutter, it's my way of telling God, I believe You.

Challenge 9 of 52: Let the Face Disappear
Theme: Creating Silhouettes
Scripture: Psalm 27:1
No sunlight. No subject. No problem.
With the weather working against me and no one to photograph, I turned to my little artist manikin and made it work indoors. This challenge was a quiet, but powerful reminder that light is far greater than anything this world can offer and that it's our responsibility to carry it into dark places so others can find their way to the true Light.

Challenge 8 of 52: Backlit & Beauty
Theme: Shooting Straight Into the Light
Scripture: John 8:12
This one was tough and honestly, I made it harder on myself. I'd always been afraid to shoot directly into the sun because I could never figure out how to properly expose the subject against such a strong light source. And it showed. My first photo came out blue because I rushed through my settings instead of following the guidance from @themoderndayscribes . Looking back, I know why. My nerves got the best of me. I was so worried about wasting my subject's time that I lost my focus entirely. On the drive home, I figured out what went wrong, made the adjustments, and went back for round two. That's when I got that beautiful golden look I was after. This challenge taught me two things: to step outside my comfort zone and photograph people I don't know well, and to slow down and stay locked in on the goal no matter the pressure.
Huge shoutout to Mrs. Ali from @throwdatdirt for graciously letting me photograph her, and to my wife @ashliognelodh for always pushing me to grow.

Challenge 7 of 52: Put the Camera Down
Theme: Reflect Before You Begin Again
Scripture: Psalm 119:105
Today is a day of rest and reflection and it came at the perfect time. If I'm being honest, I struggled to get started. Overthinking led to fear, and fear led to procrastination. But that very first challenge taught me to take the leap anyway. As the week went on, I learned to slow down, shift my perspective, and embrace the creative process and honestly, it felt a lot like worship.
I'm grateful. I'm growing. And I can't wait to see what Week 2 has in store.

Challenge 6 of 52: See People Differently
Theme: Going Deeper Than the Surface
Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:7
One of the greatest lessons marriage has taught me is the importance of seeing the world through someone else's eyes.

Challenge 5 of 52: Your Setup (BTS)
Theme: Revealing the Process
Scripture: Proverbs 16:3
Still in the early stages of building out my studio and gear, but I'm committed to mastering what I have before chasing what I don't. This setup is a reminder to self: don't despise small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.

Challenge 4 of 52: What You Love Matters
Theme: Reconnecting with What Carries Weight in My Heart
Scripture: Matthew 6:21
This one could have been easy if my wife were in town, but her absence pushed me to get creative. I decided to knoll a few things together into a flatlay that represents her. Looking back at it now, it captures everything I love: God, my wife, and creativity. 😘 @ashliognelodh

Challenge 2 of 52: Window Light Portrait
Theme: Learning How to See

Challenge 1 of 52: Self Portrait
Theme: Start Where You Are
Scripture: Nehemiah 2:18
Thanks to @breionnamyles and @themoderndayscribes for initiating this 52-day photo challenge. As an introvert, this first challenge required a different kind of vulnerability. I hate being in front of cameras, but the whole point was to step outside my comfort zone and START BUILDING!
