I made a new record. It’s called Real Magic. I think we’re all looking for these big moments to fill our lives with love and joy and meaning. And our world has made many things to do just that. And for most people, those things work and that’s great. But don’t you have this feeling that we’re not just here to make faster cars and shinier televisions? Where do I find the real magic in my life? I think it’s probably a question I’ll be asking myself forever. But maybe I’ve been trying too hard. Maybe the less I try to cram the pieces together and white knuckle the whole thing, the easier it all gets. Maybe there’s no magic to find. Maybe there’s magic everywhere. 🌊Jack the Camera Guy-Real Magic is out now everywhere🌊 (if you’re going to listen on Spotify please turn OFF enable audio normalization so it doesn’t sound like it’s coming from a tin can, Settings > playback > enable audio normalization OFF) full credits in the comments 💕

Maggie finished her new book! It’s called “The Golden Horse” and it’s SO GOOD. If ever there were a time for a little light to peak through the clouds it’s now and I think this is it. Treat yourself and buy a copy. We’ve chosen to self publish this 4 year in the making piece of art and would love it if you took a chance and picked up a copy. I promise you won’t regret it! The link to get one is in my description.

I wrote a record and it's out now! It's called Jack the Camera Guy- 40 When Covid first hit, I laid in bed thinking about my death. I thought about my funeral and what my regrets would be. The first was that I hadn't volunteered and helped others enough. The other, as stupid as it sounds, was that I hadn't made more music. I thought of the songs that were inside me that I hadn't really given the time or effort to try and write. It's silly. Or maybe it's isn't. Actually, it's the most important thing I can think to do in this insane world. I probably am a pretty desperate person and maybe that's what has allowed me to kind of blaze my own path all this time, because I feel close to the edge, or that the world is close to the edge or whatever. Making stuff, art, videos, music, is one of the only things that really feels genuine and important. To try and connect with you in some more mystical way than we get to in our daily mundane interactions. So, over the course of the last year, in my gross Philadelphia basement and in random hotel rooms as I travel as a touring crew member, with a cheap used guitar and Garageband, I started writing this record. With the overwhelming generosity of my dear friend Rudy Bethancourt who produced it and COUNTLESS other friends, which i'll dive into in another post, we did it. The album is called "40". I put a goal on myself to have the record finished by the time I turned 40 years old. I think when you turn 40 you've become the youngest of the old people. It's a time when you reflect and see what you've learned to cope with and what's probably going to be broken forever, and you learn to be ok with that. You look at your life and the love you've shared and the depths you've reached with the people you love. That's maybe what the record is about, but you tell me. If you could do me a favor and listen to this record once, that would be awesome. If you like it, if you could share it with one friend that might also like this kind of music from this kind of guy, that would be even better. I love you and there's much much more to come.

Out of nowhere a New EP is out now! On June 20th the day before the Fall Out Boy show, @breadandwalter and I rented a rehearsal space for 3 hours in Chicago to legitimately jam. Over the course of those 3 hours we fleshed out 2 songs and laughed and sweat a lot. We recorded the songs on Brendan’s iPhone just so we could remember them. Listening back, they were so fucking fun we couldn’t let them just sit like that! So we added some new guitars and I sang over the top of it all and here you have it “The Bad Cats” EP. Nothing fancy but tons of fun. I hope you like them! Credits: drums, harmonies, mastering: @breadandwalter / guitars and vox: @jackedinger

This is Lou Vecchio! He played drums on Shadowboxing 🖤 We met when he played drums for this great band called New Politics in the 2010s. He has a small studio setup in his house and I messaged him “hey wanna fuck around and play on a song for fun on an album I’m making in my basement for free?” And he was like “sure!” Bada bing he sent one take back to me and there you have it! So stoked to have his genius on this record 🥹 he’s currently the drummer for this great band @alexandrakaymusic check it out if you haven’t already! @lou_vecchio @newpoliticsmusic

We’ve reached 1,000 streams! Incredible for a little record with nothing but word of mouth behind it! I’d like to be able to say that I made this album for myself. But that’s not true. I made it for one other person. If a song, a lyric, a vibe, hit you in a magical way, connected us together for even an instant, then I made this record for you. And that’s all I ever wanted, for another person to feel it too. 🩸. 📸: @breadandwalter

My dear friend @jakechams got seriously injured on our tour. He’s ok but it’s going to take a lot of time energy and money to get him back on his feet. We love him so much. He’s such a talented and genuine individual. If you know him you know what I mean. There’s a go fund me setup to help pay for some of his medical expenses. If you have anything extra your can spare we’d all appreciate any donation you can make to help this beautiful person. Links in my bio 🥰
