I run Jack Brown Audio (JBA), my freelance business dedicated to audio production, mixing, and mastering for musicians, businesses, and creative projects.
After years of performing, teaching, and working across broadcast, games, and studio environments, I wanted to create something that reflects both my passion for sound and my commitment to supporting others in their creative journeys. It's a venue that's been on the bucket list for a while now and it didn't disappoint. Its compact @l.acoustics.official system provided great coverage in its uniquely designed space topped off by an amazing crowd.

Great event to start the month capturing audio for the St Columb's Hall Concerto Award 2026 at Hillsborough Castle on behalf of @lefoyerdesartistes
Recording in the Throne Room presented a unique opportunity to work with a world class Yamaha CFX Concert Grand in a historic setting.
For this session, we deployed three swan-necked Neumann KM184s. Their small diaphragm design delivered exceptional transient response, while the off-axis linearity ensured consistent tonality across the instruments impressive frequency range.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to operate a Lawo Diamond console at the BBC, and I’m very grateful to be the first freelance audio engineer in BBC Northern Ireland to broadcast on this desk.
Working on an unfamiliar surface in a live radio environment naturally brings its challenges, particularly when maintaining broadcast standards under pressure.
I was impressed by the clear metering, fine fader resolution, and generous headroom, which allowed for precise level management without the signal ever feeling constrained or coloured. The result was a reassuring sense that the desk would stay out of the way and let the programme speak for itself.

From Roscommon to Dublin, Donegal to Antrim, every show has been a chance to work with a brilliant team and bring some of the best music ever written to life on stage.

I was mixing on the Allen & Heath dLive S5000. It was a milestone moment for me: the band’s biggest production to date, in a venue I’ve long aspired to work in. The venues crew were incredibly accommodating. The band were supported by the amazing @loremusicofficial a must watch if you haven't already.
Plenty more dates are lined up before the end of the year, looking forward to what’s ahead!

It's been a minute since I've been able to post properly on here. I was pretty sick there for a few weeks which I have learned as a freelancer can be very tough.
Regardless, I've been fortunate to have continued to get work spanning all over the country, from Derry to Belfast, and from Bangor to Warrenpoint.
I've been able to work with some amazing artists and achieve some significant targets I hadn't planned to hit until later on in the year which has been very fulfilling.
