TLDR New Visual Album available now for free only via goldfishfuneral.com.
This August and September I wrote, recorded and filmed a visual album with the help of some good friends. We didn’t have access to a studio at the time, so we decided to record all of the tunes outside with whatever equipment we had; our iPhones, the MacBook QuickTime microphone, the stage mic I grew accustomed to carrying in the pocket of my cargo pants.
We Are More Than What We Ignore is imperfect; airplanes flying overhead and background chatter occasionally makes the music difficult to hear, this was an exercise in intimacy and immediacy, the first take was almost always the one we used.
I’ve been sitting on this project for months, unsure what to do with it. It felt like a disservice to the work to just throw it into the Spotify void and forget about it, so I’ve decided for now to make the album available solely for download or streaming via goldfishfuneral.com.
Thank you to
@jjoecho for indulging my insistence on recording outside in the hot sun or in the middle of the night, to
@sabyanez , the band and camera crew for their contributions to the record and for lugging equipment nearly a mile on the day of the shoot, to
@judahusedtomakebeats for inspiring me to not let the experimentation end with the music and encouraging me to own my creative ecosystem, and to
@davenull25 for help creating the fantastic goldfish funeral website.
If you have thoughts or feelings about this project please dm me or email me
