‘ink blot’ is my first album i’ve ever released and it will be coming out on may 1st under the name ‘shail’! shail is an old, dead word which means to shuffle/stumble sideways and i chose it because i thought it was cute and had some relation to the messiness of the album.
this project is a collection of 13 songs written over the last few years about the experiences and feelings i had with my first love. the whole thing is dedicated to her <3 these songs stay very important to the both of us and lately i have been feeling a strong desire to release them.
it’s been funny to see how she has appeared to me everywhere in songs that were never even about her when i was initially writing them. now i realize how she’s been the focus of almost everything i’ve written for the album, even if i never noticed it.
this is an emotional release for me and my one hope is that people can find joy or relate to the songs in some capacity. it’s been a long 4 months recording all of these songs in my bedroom and many sleepless nights (sorry to my little brother). even more of those same nights were spent just writing the songs in the first place.
i’m very, very excited to finally share it with everyone and hear what you all think, i love you all so so much <3
