🎭 After its March 7 premiere, ExtraO1dinary Aliens! — a compelling new play by Vietnamese-American playwright Carolina Đỗ and directed by Romanian-American artist Vas Eli — continues this week at JACK in Brooklyn. We’re sharing a few images from the production and warmly inviting our community to discover this powerful and timely show.
🌍 Presented by Betterfly Productions, Leviathan Lab, and JACK, in association with The Hearth Supported Productions and The Sống Collective, the play brings together an immigrant and first-generation cast and creative team, reflecting the lived experiences behind the story on stage.
💔 At the center of the play is Corneliu, a Romanian immigrant in love with Kay, a U.S. citizen. Around them, a circle of friends navigates the fragile realities of visas, expiring documents, artistic dreams, and uncertain futures. As relationships deepen and pressures mount, the play asks urgent questions:
What makes someone leave everything they know for a new country? What makes someone stay despite a hostile system? And can the promise of the American Dream truly become reality?
🎬 Creative team:
