A letter from Jack 👨🏼💻
Growing up around real estate as a third-generation Washingtonian has given me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the people, neighborhoods, and nuances that make this area truly special.
Next to me in this snazzy team photo is:
- EVP of Compass, and Managing Partner Ellie Shorb (also my wonderful mom)
- Lead Agent Justin Kelley
- Not photographed but incredibly important to our team is our wonderful Operations Manager Chloe
Ellie has been a respected agent in our market for over 20 years and her mentorship has been invaluable. She continues to play an active role on our team, reinforcing the Shorb family brand with every client interaction.
Our team is purposefully small, which allows us to work directly with our clients and ensures you receive personal attention at every step of the journey. With best-in-class marketing and transaction support, we are dedicated to delivering the high-touch experience you expect and deserve.
As a second-generation realtor, I am committed to carrying forward our team’s reputation while expanding our network. This enables our sellers to gain early exposure to top agents and positions our buyers to access exceptional off-market opportunities. We strive to quickly understand each client’s needs, wants, and style to craft a tailored strategy for success.
Our approach is rooted in hyper-local market expertise, creative positioning, and a steadfast commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience. Backed by Compass’s industry-leading technology-driven platform, we utilize a data-backed approach to help our clients stand out in a competitive market.
Outside of work, you can find me on the golf course or tennis courts at the Chevy Chase Club or exploring DC’s vibrant food scene. I am proud to stay connected to the community through alumni board service at St. Albans School and my involvement with the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors.
Thank you for considering The Shorb Team. We look forward to helping you achieve your real estate goals.

Huge win for our clients, we helped them sell this property they inherited in 2 days for 10k over ask because they trusted our listing prep process.
Our clients met us at the property for a walkthrough, handed the keys, and we handled the sale entirely for them.
Excited for our clients to get this one under contract. Always love taking care of great clients that were referred to us from a friend of the team.
We have your back!

We had a great conversation on camera with @jack_shorb about his philosophy on building his real estate business and why he prioritizes client relationships, and how bringing in the right support team keeps him personally involved in every transaction.
Just wrapped a great trip to NYC visiting our @thecorcorangroup HQ - and speaking at a few sales meetings.
We also toured the ICONIC Flatiron building which for the first time in its 120-year history, is trading office desks for luxury living.
A few highlights from the tour:
Massive windows overlooking 23rd Street and the heart of the Flatiron District.
Full and half-floor layouts that make you forget you’re inside a triangle.
A stunning pool and gaming room that perfectly blend modern luxury with historic bones.
With units asking up to $58.5M, it’s easily one of the most exclusive addresses in the city right now.
Justin and Jack had a fun day out on the golf course after work last week. Always fun getting out when we can amongst an exciting jam packed Spring Market!
Excited to have 10 clients with pending contracts and some great new listings coming on over the next few weeks.
Now that we are back at the office - give us a 📞! Excited to help you with your home search / sale in the DC area
Pretty cool opportunity came up a few weeks ago to be interviewed by The Washington Post discussing the complexities of the DMV housing market.
Property taxes, closing costs, and insurance vary significantly between DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Net net, My advice for buyers? - Don’t worry about real estate tax differences too much - it’s not going to change your life.
Buy in the place that you feel is going to be the best long term fit for you, and somewhere you will love to live.
Now there can be legit income tax differences depending on your finances so I would run that by an accountant.

Many people assume empty nesters will downsize to a condo or townhouse. But in the DC high-end market, we’re seeing a different trend.
Instead of downsizing, many are making lateral moves—or even upgrading—to larger, more luxurious homes. Why? Years of built-up equity and strong investment returns give them the freedom to buy what they truly want.
The impact? It’s creating more pressure on the single-family home market. With fewer people downsizing, inventory is tighter, yards are cherished, and spaces for entertaining are in high demand.
If you’re thinking about your next move, understanding this trend could make all the difference.
