1:25 model for a new build recording studio and residency space in Kyoto, planned to start on site next year. Internal ‘cocoons’ with faceted geometries are formed in rammed earth - their mass providing acoustic separation - and enclosed by a lightweight timber frame structure. #architecturemodel #scalemodel #recordingstudio

Photographs of the completed artist studios at @manor.place . Timber rooms are set inside the old washhouse, each with a chimney-like light shaft that threads through the existing services above to bring daylight into the workspace. The studios are wrapped in a reflective technical fabric and arranged to create small communal areas between them. These rooms form The Residency, a space for emerging creatives within Manor Place. The construction of our temporary radio station in Kyoto involved the prototyping of several material ideas that we are exploring for the main building project. One of these is an acoustically absorbent wall panel formed from Mulberry bark (Kozo), dyed with Shikon (root of the Murasaki plant). The raw material is first dyed, then soaked in a mixture of rice starch and kaolin, before being carefully pressed into timber moulds to create a stiff three dimensional form.

Strip out begins for a new project in Kyoto. In the meantime, a pilot project in the form of a temporary radio station. The radio station is conceived as a live testing ground for the forthcoming Sound House - a permanent recording studio and residency space planned for the same site. The temporary project transforms the disused existing buildings through selective deconstruction and new interventions that explore bio-regional materials, reuse of building components, and craft-based construction: prototypes and material tests that will be further developed and implemented in the final building project. Through an initial series of conversations and performances the radio station begins to instigate a community and creative dialogue that will shape the long-term vision for the site. Thank you to everyone who has helped to make the project happen so far!

Model photographs and drawings of the artist studios at @manor.place The new timber studios sit within the building’s old washhouse, each designed with a chimney-like light shaft that threads through the existing grid of services to bring natural daylight into the workspace. Their arrangement creates pockets of space between structures, becoming informal communal areas for working, meeting and events. These rooms form The Residency, one of the three zones within Manor Place, alongside The Park and The Cage (skatepark and football) and The Front Room (gallery). The Residency hosts six emerging creatives for nine months at a time, free of charge, with opportunities to exhibit in The Front Room. Applications for the next intake open in spring 2026. @nikelondon @palaceskateboards #ArchitectureModel #ModelPhotography #Maquette #ArchitecturalModel #AdaptiveReuse #TimberArchitecture #StudioDesign #CreativeStudios #ArchitecturalDrawing #ArtistStudios #PalaceSkateboards #NikeLondon #manorplace

A first test cut in the slab of the existing tower element of the future Hartwig Museum in Amsterdam. These new voids will enable direct vertical connections between the diverse range of uses that will inhabit the former office building on the Parnassusweg. The concrete waste created from making these voids will be retained and incorporated into a design proposal we are currently developing - more to come on this and other proposals for re-use within the project @hartwigartfoundation #hartwigmuseum
