It’ll take a bit of time to process yesterday, in what was a once in a lifetime concert. The amount of love for David Attenborough in the Albert Hall was so moving. You could feel reverence and love in every corner of that building. Singing Planet Earth with The Ascension Choir and the BBC Orchestra was overwhelming to say the least and then watching Sigur Ros playing my favourite Hoppipola again (having watched them late last year in the same building). I would dare anyone not to be in floods of tears. It felt particularly special thinking about my dad, who would be turning 80 next year, who adored David Attenborough. Some of my favourite memories will always be watching his shows with dad, everyone happily glued to the telly. Thank you so much David Attenborough for a lifetime of memories, thank you so much @theycallmeabimbola and @theascensionchoir @sessionsbyascension gosh I’m lucky @sigurros @royalalberthall

Review by Josep A. Serrano, photos by Enric Minguillón: Izo FitzRoy concert at the Teatre Margarida Xirgu as part of the Blues & Ritmes Festival ©All rights reserved The British singer, pianist, and composer began her set in the best possible way, with “Ain’t Here for Your Pleasure,” leaving us speechless from the very first note. Perfectly accompanied by Marcus Bonfanti on guitar, Matthew Waer on bass, Karl Penney on drums, and backing vocals from An'Drusilla Mosley, Nile Bailey, and Alex Wiseman, it was clear that this group is a showcase of quality and professionalism. The sound was excellent; the details with which the instrumentalists embellished the different passages of the songs were understated yet of undeniable intrinsic quality, and the choral arrangements throughout the night were simply superb. Next came “Hope Divine” and “Chasing Days.” Two glimpses of an album that clearly represents a significant evolution in the already ever-changing career of our protagonist. In her show, Izo FitzRoy ceded the spotlight, prioritizing songs from her two most recent LPs. From the magnificent "Skyline" (2017), she performed two songs, practically at the end of her set: the title track and "Break the Levee." One of the strengths that Izo skillfully leverages in her live performances is her ability to balance her obvious and prominent role (as a singer, pianist, or entertainer) with timely but effective concessions for each and every one of her fellow performers to shine. Halfway through the show, we heard “Everybody Knows This Ain’t Right” and their version of “Yes We Can Can.” “Give Me the High” closed the first part of their performance before they reappeared on stage to offer us the final songs: “Love & Affection,” “Pushing Buttons,” and “I Want Magic.” A restrained, elegant concert, meticulously planned down to the smallest detail, including the lighting effects, but not lacking in what a live performance should always have: soul, feeling, and truth. Hypnotic! #enricelo #thesunisbroken #izofitzroy #bluesandritmes #badalona

Thank you for the music, thank you for the joy, lady Fitzroy @izofitzroy ! Yes We Can Can!

#normandie #rock #eure #evreuxnormandie #CSALP

There were 13 of us hitting the stage on Friday night (Silla’s hiding in there somewhere). It was one of my favourite gigs I think so far. The band were, as always, tremendous, and I feel like everyone in that room brought so much optimism and kindness. Thank you to my outrageous band and thank you to everyone that came down and lifted that place. X
