This year has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions but, I’m still here. After years of hard work and feeling unrecognized as an independent artist, I can’t help but smile at the journey and how it all started. This year, I made my way back to the stage, after directing film for years. It has felt incredibly empowering remembering all my little idiosyncrasies , superstitions, talks with the theatre gods, and release that comes with the stage. I’m lucky. I’d be hella bored otherwise and dreadfully shy. Back in the day, we were all a part of a theatre company called The Actors’ Gang. It was an experience to say the least. Today would have been my father’s birthday. Although so much time has gone by since his passing, I still carry a well of him within me. He was a remarkable person, to his family and community. And he gave us so many incredible memories that my mind can’t do them all justice, you just had to be there . I miss him dearly. I’m reminded of that question: If you could retrieve anything you’ve ever lost… What would you look for? …My Dad. And as the saying goes, “See you in the next life when we are both cats.”
