The 10 Year autoportrait ___ I’ve been very silent and in complete hibernation the past few months. Intentionally and much necessary… This past astrological year was, to say the least, very intense. It was a true celebration of beauty and decay ― bringing alive new exhibitions, beautiful curatorial projects, inspiring connections, the marriage to my soul half and the exciting news of becoming a mother. But it also brought with it enormous grief and loss on many levels and slowly my body and health altered a state of complete shutdown with a massive flare-up of fibromyalgia and extreme fatigue. In this process of trusting completely in my own nature, I embrace stillness as the most powerful fuel there is and remember myself daily that I am not failing if things are moving slow. This busy, hectic world often sees a pause merely as a step backwards, but knowing how to slow everything down and when to pause is the true win along the way. I couldn’t be more grateful to be softly held by my husband and closest circle with the most patience, care and love. My full, curious heart feels the gentle forward pull of what is to come. A momentum of this next life cycle and new fire horse year in which I am carried not by urgency, but by a quieter knowing… Rest, quiet and stillness is a fertile space in which the unknown holds the energy for something greater to emerge allowing us to vividly bloom. FOCUS ON Ineke Vera De Soete @iveesweet • Born 1989, Kortrijk — Belgium Lives and works itinerantly between Brussels — Belgium and Morocco. Ineke Vera De Soete (༠ iveesweet ༡) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work maps the invisible architectures of space, form, and human awareness. Using a rich variety of mediums such as thread, pigments, copper, and raw materials, she weaves layered compositions in which subtle structures, patterns, and ethereal connections emerge, emphasising the complex relationships between materiality and dimensions. Her process unfolds with inner silence and attentive care, allowing materials to guide the composition and reveal their inherent natural qualities. Lines, textures, and surfaces interact to define spatial relationships, light, and movement, creating works that are simultaneously precise, tactile, and luminous. Influenced by ancient craftsmanship, cultural heritage, sacred geometry, dreamscapes and the natural and cosmic cycles, Sweet’s works act as immersive spatial topographies.
