След кратко прекъсване се връщаме към инсталациите в „Брифтопия: изкуството между кризи и въображение“ и историите зад тях. Още на входа посетителите са посрещнати от работата на Иван Мудов „Брифтопка“, в която авторът, с помощта на местен логопед, се опитва да прочете кураторския текст „по габровски“. Жестът преобръща обичайната практика да се търси „корекция“ на акцент и вместо това предлага съзнателно вписване в локалните специфики на говора – дори ако това трае само толкова, колкото „продължава“ един кураторски текст. По този начин „топката“ е подхвърлена обратно и към куратора, чийто увод и самата концепция на Брифтопия потенциално стават по-разбираеми за местната публика. В изложбата е представена и втора негова работа – „Глухарчето“ (2026), която препраща към едноименния паметник в София – символично свързан с идеята за мир и съвестта на писателя – който днес съществува в състояние на частично разрушение. За Мудов този обект носи и личен спомен, превръщайки художествения жест в форма на присвояване и критичен коментар към начина, по който се съхранява културната памет. Продължаваме представянето на артистите в „Брифтопия: изкуството между кризи и въображение“ с българския художник Иван Мудов. Мудов завършва Националната художествена академия в София през 2002 година. Художествената му практика обхваща фотография, видео, пърформанс и инсталация. Работите му, носещи силен метафоричен заряд, поставят под въпрос социалнополитическите и икономическите условия, в които се създава изкуството, както и неговата връзка със системите на власт. Чрез подриване на съществуващите норми и правила, Мудов разкрива механизмите на тяхното функциониране. За изложбата Мудов създава две нови работи, една от които е видеото „Брифтопка“, в което с помощта на местен логопед артистът се опитва да прочете кураторския текст „по габровски“. Снимката е предоставена от художника ——- We continue our introduction of the artists in “Brieftopia: Art Between Crisis and Imagination” with the Bulgarian artist Ivan Moudov. Moudov (b.1979, Sofia) graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 2002. His artistic practice spans photography, video, performance, and installation. His works, often charged with strong metaphorical meaning, question the socio-political and economic conditions under which art is produced, as well as its relationship to systems of power. By subverting established norms and rules, Moudov reveals the mechanisms through which they operate. For the exhibition, Moudov has created two new works, one of which is a new video work, “Brieftopka”, in which, with the help of a local speech therapist, the artist attempts to read the curatorial text “in the Gabrovo dialect.” The gesture reverses the usual practice of seeking to “correct” an accent and instead proposes a deliberate engagement with the local particularities of speech – even if only for the brief duration it takes for a curatorial text to be read. Ivan Moudov presents three interconnected works exploring the Bulgarian-Turkish border. Border Flowers (2025) transforms discarded plastic waste into visually alluring installations, drawing metaphorical connections. B-Shapes Repellent (2025) uses fly agaric mushrooms collected at the border to create mosquito repellent, revealing how mycelium networks ignore political divisions in their vital proliferation. Sound Flags (2025), created with sound artist Sibin Vassilev, converts the visual patterns of Bulgarian, Greek, and Turkish flags into acoustic compositions—blending borders through colour and sound. Together, these works invite us to reconsider borders as environments where ecological, symbolic, and sensory relationships converge. Sound Flags, 2025 Ivan Moudov and sound artist Sibin Vassilev use software to transform the flags of Turkey, Bulgaria, and Greece into sound, broadcast from speakers mounted atop three flagpoles. National symbols often claim to embody unity and identity, yet Sound Flags challenges this assumption: instead of passively representing nations, the flags merge into a symphony of sounds. This fusion invites listeners to feel rather than to follow fixed meanings, opening space for interpretation beyond borders. Звукови знамена, 2025 Иван Мудов и звуковият артист Сибин Василев използват софтуер, за да преобразуват знамената на Турция, България и Гърция в звук, излъчван от високоговорители, монтирани на върха на три пилона. Националните символи често претендират да въплъщават единство и идентичност, но Звукови знаменаоспорва това допускане: вместо пасивно да представят нациите, знамената се сливат в симфония от звуци. Това сливане приканва зрителите да усещат, вместо да следват фиксирани значения, отваряйки пространство за интерпретация отвъд границите.

На 06.04.2025 г. в двора на Националния Исторически Музей беше инсталирана работата “Гранични цветя” на Иван Мудов. На следващия ден произведението беше премахнато от служители на музея без да бъдат уведомени нито художника, нито кураторите. Последваща възможност за диалог с институцията не беше предоставена. Работата „Гранични цветя“, е мащабна инсталация от пластмасови отпадъци, събрани от автора по време на погранични разходки по българо-турската граница. Като реакция, художникът реши да оттегли всички свои творби от изложбата. On April 6th, 2025 in the yard of the National History Museum the work “Border Flowers” by Ivan Moudov was installed the work. The next day the work was removed by the museum without notifying either the artist or the curators. No further opportunity for dialogue with the institution was provided. “Border Flowers”, is a large-scale installation of plastic waste collected by the artist during border walks along the Bulgarian-Turkish border. As a reaction, the artist has decided to withdraw all his works from the exhibition.

Sabato 12 ottobre, in occasione della XX #Giornatadelcontemporaneo, promossa da @amaci_musei , l'artista @ivanmoudov presenterà Performing Time all'interno del progetto No Time for Prophecies, performance che occuperà per otto ore la lobby del @museomaxxi . . Regolando manualmente le lancette di un orologio analogico senza motore, l’artista mette in discussione la percezione del tempo. Affidandosi unicamente alla propria intuizione, senza l’ausilio di dispositivi tecnologici, Moudov misura il trascorrere dei minuti attraverso il suo senso interiore. Per tutta la durata di apertura del MAXXI sarà dunque il senso interno e soggettivo dell’artista a scandire il tempo dei visitatori del Museo. . On Saturday, 12 October, artist @ivanmoudov will present Performing Time, an 8 hours-long performance at @museomaxxi in Rome, Italy, as part of No Time for Prophecies program. . By manually adjusting the hands of a non-motorized analog clock, the artist questions his perception of time. Изследвания върху хистерията Самостоятелна изложба на Иван Мудов @ivanmoudov Куратор: Бояна Джикова @cherechair 06.03.2024-07.04.2024 Откриване: 06.03., 18:00 В изложбата си “Изследвания върху хистерията” художникът Иван Мудов осъществява намеси в градската среда около галерии ПУНТА и ПОСТА. Мудов реферира към вече съществуващи съоръжения на обществена рестрикция, като критически поглед върху монументалната скулптура. Изборът му на изразни средства води до съмнения от страна на куратора относно подсъзнателните мотивации на художника. Затова Иван Мудов е подложен (доброволно!) на по-задълбочено изследване през серия от психоаналитични сеанси. Резултатът от този процес ще бъде представен в издание, съпътстващо изложбата. Wind of Change, 2005 Wind of Change is a mixed media installation, presented at 1st Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art. The artist placed a wind turbine on the roof of the museum, which provided renewable and eco-friendly energy for the surveillance cameras inside the building. However, each time the wind stopped, the cameras were left without power, thus compromising the video security system and putting the objects in the museum at risk.
