The late George E. Blair '54, who hitchhiked to IUP at 16, left a lasting national legacy. His story is one of resilience, purpose, and impact.
Believed to be IUP’s first Black male graduate, Blair overcame segregation-era challenges to become a minister, educator, and leader. He went on to found the Black World Championship Rodeo and the New York City Riding Academy, opening doors for future generations.
