Effervescence (2020) This work marks the inception of my art practice. My paintings are physical manifestations of Lucas processing and organizing his mind. Forays into the psyche, explorations of the subconscious, travels in the metaphysical. The mind is a universe, and I am an astronaut. The deeper you go into your mind, the clearer God’s signature becomes. #painting #oil #art

When I was in the train last weekend, it was packed. I noticed how every person was looking everywhere except at another person. We look down at the ground, at an ad, but if we look at another person, it’s only a quick glance, lest their eyes meet ours. And if they do, we glance away as quickly as we looked. It’s funny how powerful eye contact is. When someone else’s eyes meet yours, and you don’t look away, you share your consciousness with them, even for just that one split second. It really is true that our eyes are the window into our souls. #painting #oil #workspace #art

Horatio’s Story He is an “Easter egg”. This all starts in High school, when my art teacher (shoutout to her, my favorite teacher in hs) let me know that I couldn’t make my concentration for that year “the egg”. It had to be something with more context to it. Thus, the rebellious teen in me then decided I must include an egg in all my paintings from there on out. And I still carry on that tradition to this day. #oil #painting #art

What Happened to Masculinity in the West? The subject of this painting is the modern western man, head in his hands. In front of him is the Spirit of Strength, encouraging him to stand up and be courageous. Coming towards him are strange beings of disorder. However you’ll notice the spirit has his back turned towards them. Although the western man’s head is in his hands, his spirit is still unafraid - all is not lost. #oil #paint #surrealism

“Your Habits are the Trees in the Forest of Your Mind” I created this piece in 2025, primarily in Switzerland. Karren and I were traveling last year, and our prayer while in Switzerland was that the Lord would speak to us. We stayed in a quiet ski village near Ollon, surrounded by nature. And this is what I heard - our habits are like plants, watered by our thoughts and experiences. And we should tend our minds just like one would tend a garden, pruning the good trees and removing the bad. Prints available in bio #ink #art #painting

Esther, painted in 2021 We took these photos overlooking my favorite viewpoint in LA. I found this spot while skating around Echo Park in 2016 during High School, and I make sure to return every time I go back. Spots like these make LA special - even thought it’s a metropolis, you can find hidden streets, lush with nature and void of buildings, making you feel like you’re nowhere near the city. The mix of city and nature keeps Los Angeles close to my soul.

Eve in the Garden, 2026 I was inspired compositionally by Klimt’s “Medicine”. The angle of Karren’s face, the serpentine figures, and the interplay with the dress between foreground and background. The dress is both fabric and foreground, while fading into the background. Becoming and unbecoming is a theme that I will be exploring further in upcoming works. #painting #oil #art

Operating in the stream of consciousness teaches you to hear your inner voice. It is that small voice, consistent, and unshakeable in a world that is always trying to grab your attention. This voice is the voice of God, of Truth. I have heard it said that consciousness might be an antenna, like a channel we tune into. A noisy channel will not allow you to digest the information coming through. Quieting the “thinking” mind enables you to listen. Esther, 2023 #Oil #painting #art

“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city” This is a physical depiction of the feelings that well up inside of us when we do not perform up to our own standards. Back in 2022, Devan and I recorded me destroying an untitled work at Prospect Park. I took a hammer to it, sawed it in half, and burned it. Although this video was made in good fun, there is a real reflection to be had. These days, I tend to approach life with the above quote in mind. It reminds me of the story of Noah’s ark and God’s one single time destroying earth. After which, he vowed never to do it again. Although I’m sure He’s sometimes frustrated with us, He no longer destroys. #oil #painting #christianart

This is Squid I, which I made post graduation from college. I was full of excitement at being able to pay my bills with art. Rand’s objectivism inspired me to be solely focused on my art, with the assurance that a pure focus on pursuing my God-given purpose will inevitably lead to me becoming the best version of myself, both for my own self interests and as a member of society. This has undoubtedly turned out to be true. #oil #painting #surrealism

Wanted to bring you guys behind the scenes and share about this painting from 2022. ‘Ezekiel and the Valley of Dry Bones’ is one of my series of blue Bible paintings. The story reminds me that God can resuscitate dead hopes and dreams even when it doesn’t seem possible. #oil #art #painting #christianart
