💰 The gap between CEOs, billionaires and workers isn’t just growing — it’s accelerating. #MayDay
New analysis by the ITUC and Oxfam shows:
📈 CEO pay rose 20× faster than workers’ pay in 2025
📉 Workers’ real wages have fallen 12% since 2019
💸 Billionaires earned up to $2,500 per second in dividends
⚠️ This is not just inequality — it’s about power, democracy, and who the economy really works for.
✊ Workers create the wealth. This #MayDay26, it’s time to build a system that works for everyone.

Work-related stress, burnout and insecurity are not individual problems — they are workplace risks.
This International Workers' Memorial Day #IWMD26, it’s time to tackle psychosocial risks at work.
📊 1 in 5 workers experience burnout, and long working hours remain the deadliest workplace hazard.
Psychosocial risks must be prevented — and unions are key to making work safer. ✊

Algorithms are already shaping the lives of millions of platform workers — deciding who works, how much they earn, and who gets deactivated 🚨
Behind the app, real power is at play. And right now, it’s unregulated.
⚙️ Workers are managed by systems they can’t see or challenge
💬 Collective rights are being undermined
🧠 Constant pressure is harming health and safety
🔍 Data is collected without transparency or control
This is not innovation — it’s exploitation.
📅 June 2026 is a crucial moment to bring algorithms under democratic control and secure real protections for platform workers.
✊ It’s time for transparency, human oversight and collective agreements
📢 It’s time to deliver rights for all platform workers

✊🌍 A high-level international trade union delegation visited 🇪🇨 Ecuador from May 11–13 to demand answers over the worsening situation for workers’ and trade union rights.
The International Trade Union Mission took place amid serious concerns about:
⚠️ Restrictions on collective bargaining
⚠️ Violations of labor rights
⚠️ Anti-union dismissals
⚠️ Criminalization of social protest
⚠️ State interference in trade union organizations
⚠️ Weakening of public services
During the visit, the delegation met with Ecuadorian organizations, engaged with State institutions, and assessed Ecuador’s compliance with international obligations, including ILO Conventions 87 & 98. 📑⚖️
The mission brought together global and regional union organizations including the ITUC, TUCA, PSI, Education International, UNI Global Union, UNI Americas, and trade union confederations from across Latin America and Europe. 🤝🌎

Trade union delegates from across countries came together with a clear and urgent call: place decent work and international labour standards at the center of migration governance. 🌍⚖️
Migrant workers are essential to our economies—but too often their rights are overlooked. Ensuring fair conditions, social protection, and respect at work is key to building just and inclusive societies. 🤝
At #IMRF2026, unions reaffirmed that social dialogue and strong labour standards are not optional—they are essential. ✊
🎥 A migrant worker’s story from Spain
🗣️ “None of our rights were respected… we worked from early morning until midnight, for low pay, under constant threats.” Halima, migrant worker from Morocco
This is the reality too many migrant workers still face. But it’s also a story of courage, solidarity, and change. 💪
After years of exploitation, she stood up, joined with her colleagues, and—with union support—helped secure better wages, dignity at work, and respect. Today, she is a union representative fighting for others✊
At #IMRF2026, we are reminded: migrant workers keep our economies running—yet their rights are too often denied. Real change happens when workers organise and when labour rights are placed at the centre of migration governance. 🌍⚖️

✊🌍 ITUC May Newsletter 2026 🌍✊
This May, we raise our voices louder than ever: the global economy is being rigged in favour of the super-rich 💰 while workers’ wages stall and democracy is pushed aside.
📊 Our joint analysis with Oxfam reveals a stark reality—soaring CEO pay, growing inequality, and extreme wealth being used to weaken trade union rights and divide societies.
🚨 This is not just an economic issue. It’s a democratic crisis.
Trade unions— the world’s largest social movement—are fighting back to reclaim power for working people.
🌐 People on the move, rights under attack
At the International Migration Review Forum, we’re standing up for migrant workers. Every worker deserves a voice, protection, and representation—no exceptions.
