Beyond Belonging is a thought provoking Pride Month mixed media exhibition capturing what belonging might be perceived as through different eyesights, deciphering its core and reasoning, and dissecting its nature in the identity of queerness.
What is the difference between finding your place and being placed? Does belonging travel with you, or does it have to be rebuilt in the new? If queer is a state of mind rather than a fixed identity, what holds the community together? And is the longing to belong a self-defined feeling, or one involuntarily imposed through suppression and the need to adapt?
This exhibition does not offer resolution. It offers a space in which these questions can be held by those who have lived inside them, and by those encountering them for the first time.
