Eight years ago today, in a hate motivated attack on the gay community, a gunman murdered 49 people and injured 53 at the Pulse Nightclub.

Jonathan Antonio Camuy Vega:
Would have turned 25 nine days after the pulse shooting. He had moved from his native Puerto Rico to Florida to pursue a career in TV production.
Anthony Luis Laureano Disla:
Was 25 years old. He moved from Puerto Rico to Orlando at the age of 22 to pursue a career in dance and choreography; a passion that began at 10 years old.
Xavier Emmanuel Serrano Rosado:
‘Xavi’ was 35 and a veteran dancer and entertainer in parks and on cruises. He had a son who he supported with everything he had.
Shane Tomlinson:
Shane grew up in North Carolina. He lived in Atlanta as well before moving to Orlando to pursue his dreams of a music career. He and his band Frequency played around Orlando and he loved comfort food. His friend Victoria Larkin said “He was someone that could walk in the room and light you up with his personality.”
Luis Sergio Vielma:
Was 22 and his sister Kim remembered him as a “goofball” who loved movies and TV. He was studying emergency medical services. At Universal he was a part of the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey team. Kim said he “left behind footprints of love and kindness everywhere he went.”
Jerald Arthur Wright:
Was 31 and called his parents in Miami twice a day. Jerald’s parents have become advocates for common sense gun control hoping to prevent other parents from experiencing their grief.
