In a candlelit Venetian palace “the Pallazoo Contarini”, the soul of Nigeria was plated with elegance and style. Chef Michael Adé Elégbèdé @michael__elegbede invited by the Museum of West African Art transformed memory into a menu, creating story and heritage into every bite. This is how cultures speaks, when food becomes language.

There’s one thing that stands out, Benedict Oramah brings life into every space he walks into. Work or play, boardroom or stage, his energy is contagious. This moment wasn’t just about him playing the guitar it was a reminder that leadership isn’t always stiff or distant. Sometimes it’s joy, rhythm, and connection. Because even visionaries need to let loose once in a while. #VisualHistorian #LegacyThroughTheLens #AdedotunSoyebiProductions #AfricanIcons

Benedict Oramah and the Women of Africa While documenting Prof. Oramah, one thing that stood out to me was how intentional he is about inclusion especially when it comes to women.I saw him engage with so much respect and genuine curiosity. He believes that if men can build it, women can scale it. And every time I saw him engage with women entrepreneurs, leaders, and creators, it was clear he’s not just advocating equality, he’s investing in it. Watching him celebrate women’s achievements across the continent reminded me that progress isn’t complete without balance. And Prof. Oramah? He’s been making sure women are right there at the center of Africa’s story. #BenedictOramah #Afreximbank #WomenOfAfrica #VisualHistorian #AdedotunSoyebiProductions #legacythroughthelens

BENEDICT ORAMAH THE COOK🍳 Aside from being a great cook in the literal sense, Prof. Oramah is an even greater one in thought. He’s constantly cooking something! ideas, strategies, connections, solutions. While documenting him, I saw how easily he could turn a random conversation into a roadmap for progress. He listens, he refines, he creates right there on the spot. If it moves Africa forward, best believe he’s already a step ahead… cooking it up. #BenedictOramah #Afreximbank #AdedotunSoyebiProductions #VisualHistorian #AfricanIcons #LegacyThroughTheLens

The time I spent documenting the outgoing President of the Afrexim bank - Prof. Benedict Oramah a few years ago, changed a lot for me. In just that little time , I got a sense of clarity that shaped the next direction of my life. But that’s a story for another day! For now, I’ll be dedicating my next few posts to sharing moments and reflections of Prof. Oramahs journey of connecting the African Market through my lens. Such a Great Guy! #BenedictOramah #Afreximbank #VisualHistorian

October 2020 in London literally burst my head!! Watching the diaspora stand in solidarity while Nigeria’s youth demanded justice was unforgettable. Placards told stories. Faces carried history. Even Sarz on the Beat was there a symbol of how deeply this movement cut across every layer of identity. In Nigeria, we often don’t have the liberty to spread our truths. We adapt, manage, and reconcile with whatever is handed to us. But this time was different a generation rose and spoke up, peacefully. I’m grateful to have witnessed it, even if only once in my lifetime. Still, I strongly believe Nigeria is getting better and it will get better. Each of us has a role to play in the long arc of progress, if not for ourselves, then for our children’s children. Rest in peace to every soul lost during the protest and before it. All will be well. 🇳🇬 20th October, 2020

#IATF2025 was an unforgettable experience! You could feel the urgency for Africa to connect and it will. Watching transactions, partnerships, and unity take shape despite differences in language, culture, religion, and belief was the most powerful thing to document. In my view, Afreximbank stands out as a bank deeply committed to uniting Africa by strengthening its economy, driving the vision of Africa building Africa, in Africa. IATF is the birthplace of this vision. IATF 2025 4th–10th September, 2025

Every frame is a thread in the reshaping of Africa’s story and legacy. At #IATF2025, I witnessed not only trade and transactions, but vision, not just leaders, but legacies, not just the past, but the present and the future. Monochrome because truth doesn’t need colors. PARADIGM SHIFT Things just don’t happen they shift the course of history! I watched Ogiame Atuwatse III, young, confident, and deeply rooted in his heritage, glide through the sacred waterways of Warri on his way to Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri) to be crowned the 21st Olu of Warri. It was more than a coronation procession; it was the river carrying the weight of centuries, the mangroves standing as silent witnesses, and a king stepping into his destiny at just 37 years old. In that moment, I could feel the bridge between history and the future, tradition meeting vision, culture meeting progress and Ogiame stepping into what he was born for! Me, just witnessing it all was very overwhelming and intriguing as the chants, colours, and energy of the people rose to meet him while him just being overly calm, having a steady poker face, smiling and speaking gently. As his anniversary approaches this August, I look back at that day when the Kingdom welcomed not just a new ruler, but a new chapter. May your reign be strong your majesty!!! @oluofwarri August 21, 2021.
