Last year, @julieschu asked me to help her out with some stippled animal illustrations for Moon Hollow Ranch’s new winery addition to their ranch. It was a bit of a dream project, and helped get me back into doodles.

Honesty time. I’ve had a rough time jumping back into painting. My heart and head are in Chicago. My rotator cuff still kinda hurts. I spend some time designing things for people and then spend whatever downtime aimlessly walking 15 miles through the city listening to podcasts . I’ve found myself too scared to paint, too scared to pick up any tool that I used to find so rewarding and freeing, scared of imposter syndrome, scared that I forgot how to move paint around. You name it, it’s stopped me in my tracks. —
However, lately i am spending the evenings binge watching Cheers again and warming up the arm with some quick dog watercolors in bed before I go to sleep. Trying to find a groove again, even if it’s quick and dirty. #whereeverybodyknowsyourname
