Around Mothers Day celebrations it feels like the right time to share the second part of our introduction to Dr Judith Neilson - a woman who has dedicated much of her life and fortune to ensuring that the women most often forgotten by the world are forgotten no longer 🥰 Her philanthropy asks a simple question: What becomes possible when women are genuinely supported? The answer, it turns out, changes everything. It’s a fitting moment to reflect on what that kind of support - at scale, and without condition - can look like! #JudithNeilsonFoundation #humanities #philanthropy #womenempowerment #photography Erin Mullikin, Davina Jogi, Stephan Cruickshank & Steven Dean 🙏🏻✨interview: David K Shields

Dr. Judith Neilson rarely seeks the limelight, which is exactly what makes this conversation so extraordinary. She has placed so much behind a single conviction: that truth-telling is the bedrock of progress - and that journalism, done properly, is how we get there. We’re introducing her work in our latest post, with a focus on the Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas. And we’re inviting you to go further - into the full, long-form interview we published in Resolve, issue 3 of Its Interval. The link is in our bio- it’s worth your time ! @itsinterval 📸🫶🏻 ▶️▶️▶️ From March 11 to April 7, 2026, 10 Corso Como Gallery @10corsocomo presents The New American West: Photography in Conversation – an exhibition examining how the idea of the American West has been constructed, mythologised, and continually reimagined through photography over nearly a century. The exhibition is co-curated by @alessiodenavasques @howardgreenberggallery , and @carriescottcurates . Photography is positioned here as both document and projection. Contemporary works by @maryameisler and Alexei Riboud @akriboud enter into dialogue with images by Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Diane Arbus, Esther Bubley, Mary Ellen Mark, Robert Adams, Joel Meyerowitz, Lee Friedlander, Wright Morris, Minor White, Allen Ginsberg, Wim Wenders and others. Together, their work traces the West from the early twentieth century to today – revealing not a single story, but a layered and evolving idea shaped by ambition, displacement, beauty and contradiction. At the heart of the project is the 2024 journey undertaken by Eisler and Riboud. a shared journey experienced independently. The two photographed the same territories without sharing images, producing radically different visual responses. Without overt political declaration, The New American West reflects on the enduring promise once attached to the frontier – freedom, opportunity and reinvention – while acknowledging the exclusions and hardships embedded within those ideals. Through photography, these tensions remain visible, open to reflection and re-seeing.
