Footsie is a pioneering grime MC, producer, and DJ from East London. He first gained recognition in the early 2000s as part of the legendary grime crew Newham Generals, alongside D Double E. Signed to Dizzee Rascal’s Dirtee Stank label, the duo helped shape grime’s raw, underground sound, becoming key figures in the genre’s rise.
Beyond his work with Newham Generals, Footsie has had a successful solo career, dropping projects like King Original — a series showcasing his production work — and No Favours, his 2020 debut solo album featuring collaborations with JME, CASisDEAD, and D Double E. His King Original series highlights his deep-rooted influence on grime instrumentals, with tracks like Work All Day featured as the soundtrack for Apple’s iPhone 13 advert in 2021.
In recent years, Footsie has been increasingly drawn to dub and sound system culture, performing alongside artists like Dubkasm and OBF at events rooted in the Teachings in Dub movement. Bridging the worlds of grime and dub, he continues to evolve while staying true to the bass-heavy foundations that define his sound.
