5 years hiatus over πŸ™ I'm grateful to be back exploring, and arriving at a time in my life where I feel my most honest and authentic. The biggest experience from this - was deciding to step back as an artist, and allowing more space to experience and deepen my connection for this beautiful and enriching culture I'm beginning to bond with. When I decided to chose my own pathway to discovering my Filipino identity, I began to build my roots. From the cultural practices, to embodying the fabrics, to the sound design, there was a spirtual presence in the space. This was no longer just about developing creative practice, but a ritual of becoming. I would like to thank producer @pollycuthbert__ & @theplacelondon for choosing us. your kindness, trust, support and resources, for helping us start the momentum vital for this new creative vision & meaningful life work to come. My homeslices: @jonadette_ @sunshinetheafrooist @fluid.tactics Beyond your skills and expertise, thank you being dope at what you do, and trusting me to dive deep with no judgement πŸ™ πŸ‡΅πŸ‡πŸ€Ž

April, you have been kind. This month I was surrounded by art, culture, family & people. For those that know me, I can work intense in the line of work I do, making things happen. This year, I chose to slow down and surrender, giving more space to everyday, to simplicity, and to see this beautiful city through a deeper and loving lens, despite what we see on our news feeds and social media - There is love in this city 🀎 April highlights: 1. Supporting @estenimarket market and awesome DJs @gabeino @f0urt3n @artphilm DJ spinnin with selectahs. 2. I got to meet this musical genius @andrewashong , unaware I have alot of his music in my crates that I love, to meet was pure universe! A pleasure to connect with you, thank you for reigniting my love for vinyl, an art I havnt touched since my 20s. 3. My mums birthday, she invited all her friends to our local fish and chip shop lool east london in the veins. 4. Mums Birthday cake at our local Fish and chips. 5. Screening of ATCQ documentary 6. Q&A with tribe member Jarobi White. 7. Reyes siblings 8. Secret project with Southbank. 9. Full circle with the Familia, a return to something we love.

We launch a new campaign celebrating UK Filipino Arts called Inside/Out. Over the coming weeks, we’re pulling back the curtain. We invite Filipino artists to share shorts, offering a raw and intimate glimpse inside their creative universes. We are thrilled to begin this journey with @itschrisreyes , Director of Maharlika UKβ€” a professional dance artist, theatre maker, creative producer, and curator. Inside/out: Chris Reyes - The journey of the Unknown and self discovery. "Everytime I create, theres this place I often arrive to. I've come to think of it as 'the unknown'. I feel like, It's where all masks and pretense falls away and you're left with just you. Its uncomfortable, its enduring, its naked, but this is where my truth is, That's where my most authentic art begins." Filmed and edited by @jtorresproductions

New artistic project in progress. Last week, my collaborators and I shared raw ideas and early visual concepts at @theplacelondon . Blending indigenous, modern and futuristic themes aligned with one basic but complex question - what does it mean to be Filipino? In the process of change, we mustn't be afraid to explore new ways in search of our identities. There is no one journey. We are guided and reminded by our ancestors and the on-going teachings left for us. They exist for us to receive, not to dictate and control, but we must also add our own experiences to these, to give a pathway to the future.
