One thing about having two dope chefs as co-founders is that they see Food as so much more then something we simply consume. @kindkitchengroup is all about culinary education fortified in #socialemotionallearning. So, shout out to our crew @its_ms_bowman and @ssprenzphoto @blackculinary on #NationalSELDay for doing the soul work. Over here we build good cooks by supporting great humans 📸 @ssprenzphoto

We did it 🎉 No Kitchen Skipped was a success. Thank you to our partner @noskipscollective for encouraging folks to donate and support our DPS families. Thank you to @plat4living and @skillfitsstudio for being donation sites! We aren’t finished yet! Now we are going to create kits, provide wellness items, and the food to Fayetteville Street Elementary’s Resource Center. So families have food, choice, and support this winter season. 🫶🏾

WE ARE THRILLED to announce that we are recipients of a @bullcityschools Innovation Grant this year! Through our program, ““Nothing Is Wasted”: Building Leaders Through Food” Culinary Leadership & Mental Health,” we are working with a small group of young people to build their leadership capacity and their mental health toolkit through the vehicle of FOOD and SERVICE. We are off to an AMAZING start with two events under our belt: the Move-A-Bull City event and one (out of three) Black Farmer’s Market opportunities! These students have worked to plan, reflect, and pivot their Spice Blends series in order to craft and deliver a special experience of making custom spice blends! We are so grateful for this amazing opportunity afforded to us! And shoutout Taylor O. for being an amazing resource on this journey. Follow @kindkitchengroup for more!!!!

FALL 2024 MYP PERSONAL PROJECTS ARE A WRAP. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

English II brought breakfast to the Hive with Chef @sicilysierra as she talked about how a fear of failure stops us from taking on the challenges that lead to success! As our students wrap up their MYP projects, many are grappling with the fear of failure—whether it’s the assignment itself or their own expectations. But remember, the goal of this project has never been about producing a flawless, groundbreaking outcome. It’s about giving yourself the freedom to explore an interest, reflect on what you can do differently, and grow through the process of failure and obstacles. Trust in yourself and your abilities. Create the product, write the journals, draft the report—use the sentence frames, and embrace the journey.

An exciting week in our English II and AVID classes! AVID 10 is participating in the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy and started putting book packages together for a local elementary school. They are gearing up for their Do Good December project! AVID 10 and AVID 11 were treated to guest speakers from UNC-Chapel Hill who spoke about getting prepared for college. They also offered a special word for our students of color: KNOW and STAND CONFIDENT that you are supposed to be in the rooms you walk into. And English II students were treated to a session from @sicilysierra @kindkitchengroup who spoke about her passion for helping people through the lens of food. By working with the end in mind, we can create a better and more well-developed process. This is true not only for food, but ALSO for their MYP projects that they are working on. It’s been lit in Room 104 this week, y’all!!!! 💕💕💕
