I usually have different settings for different shots just so I know what I want to use. Shooting in 24fps gives a me a cinematic feel. Shooting in 60fps gives me the ability to slow my clip down. Shooting in 120fps (if enough light is available) allows me to slow my footage down into a dramatic scene.

Most people think low light means cranking ISO to the moon and hoping for the best.
What I wish I knew earlier is that cinematic low light is more about light placement, exposure, and lens choice than just having an expensive camera.
Sometimes all it takes is:
• moving your subject closer to a light source
• exposing properly in camera
• using a fast lens
• understanding where shadows should fall
• and letting the scene naturally breathe instead of trying to make it look like daytime
A lot of the “cinematic” look actually comes from embracing the darkness while keeping your subject separated and visible.
Once I learned how to shape available light instead of fighting it, my footage changed completely.

Finally got the Tilta ring grip setup dialed in and I can’t lie… this thing makes shooting feel like a movie set 😂
Way more control, smoother movement, lower shots, easier tracking, and honestly just makes creating more fun. Sometimes investing into gear isn’t about “looking cool”… it’s about helping execute the vision easier. 🎥
Now I just need my chiropractor on payroll.

Lighting is one of those things that can make or break a film. You can execute the vision yourself with the right technique and understanding—but having a solid gaffer takes a huge weight off your shoulders. It lets you stay focused on directing, framing, and telling the story while someone else is dialing in the light exactly how it needs to be.
Subtle difference on paper… big difference on set.
Shoutout to @bydebourg for bringing that extra level to this one 🎥✨

I always get asked how I make my real estate videos look cinematic…
Simple — I use foreground 100% of the time.
Foreground is placing something in front of your subject while your main shot sits behind it.
Could be:
• a doorway
• wall edge
• furniture
• plants
• railings
Why it matters 👇
Most videos look flat because everything is on one layer. Foreground adds depth, and that’s what creates that cinematic look.
It also:
• guides the viewer’s eye
• makes shots feel intentional
• adds natural movement
• gives that high-end feel
Don’t just shoot a space…
Shoot through something. 🎥

This video wasn’t about crazy gear… it was about creative decisions.
Every shot had a purpose.
The box POV shot — putting the 10mm inside wasn’t random, it was to make the viewer feel like they’re part of the moment, not just watching it.
The kick transition — that came from building off the model’s movement and turning it into energy that carries into the next shot.
The wipe — simple, but intentional. It connects scenes in a way that feels natural instead of forced.
That’s really the difference.
Anybody can shoot a video… but not everyone is thinking about how each shot connects, flows, and keeps attention.
That’s where the real value is.

The best marketing you can do for your brand is posting yourself in motion.
Not just the final cinematic reel.
The planning. The camera moves. The way you direct people. The way you solve problems on set.
BTS content builds trust because people get to see how you work before they ever pay you.
It shows your professionalism, your energy, your eye for detail, and the experience clients can expect when they book with you.
For me, it’s more than just filming.
It’s how I guide the vision, control the lighting, create movement, and turn real moments into content that actually makes people stop scrolling.
People don’t just buy video.
They buy confidence in the person behind the camera.
That’s why posting the process is just as powerful as posting the result.

Great content starts with understanding the client’s vision first.
My job is to take what they already built, understand the feeling they want people to experience, and turn that into visuals that make people stop scrolling.
The difference is in the creative decisions:
camera movement, lighting, pacing, sound design, color, and the moments you choose to highlight.
Anyone can record what’s happening.
The best videographers know how to make people feel what it’s like to be there.
That’s what makes a brand stand out online and makes the right audience want in.
