One of the queerest colleges in the U.S. is in rural Ohio?!
I’m Ale, a Youth Voices Ambassador with It Gets Better, and I got to tour Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH! At Antioch, 80% of the student body is LGBTQ+, with 15% trans students. It really felt like they support their queer students, with resources in place like an official system for changing names and pronouns! They prepare their queer students for post-college experiences too, like traveling while LGBTQ+, and how to update legal documents.
I’ve never visited a place that felt so welcoming to LGBTQ+ people, even though it wasn’t made specifically for queer students. And all in rural Ohio.

@jasoncollins_98 saw an It Gets Better video from a trainer whose story resonated with his own - so he sent the trainer an email and said it for the first time: “I’m gay.”
He chose 98 as a queer-coded number for his jersey, and would go on to be the first openly gay active NBA player.
