Happy Birthday to my Robin! This birthday marks our 10th year of friendship. When we moved into our dorm on 23rd, I remember meeting you in passing. In our first conversation you had mentioned how you loved gingko trees. I had apparently come by a gingko tree on my walk home from class and brought you a leaf from it. I donāt even fully remember doing this, it was just a little gesture. It wasnāt until years later when you told me how much that gesture meant to you, I came to realize how that one leaf on the sad concrete of NYC gave way to one of my most cherished relationships. A friendship thatās lasted 10 years.
I never had great luck with friends at that point in my life. A lot of my younger years were spent alone or with people who werenāt good for me. But you were different. You showed me what itās like to truly have a best friend.
