I am pleased to announce that one of my photographs has been selected for the “Home-s” Open Call, part of the @photopolis_festival
Out of a total of 2,135 photographs by 905 photographers from 38 countries, “offering personal and multifaceted approaches to the concept of ‘Home’,” as noted by the jury, works by 212 photographers were selected and will be exhibited at the Christos Kapralos Art Gallery, Kapralos Museum, Agrinio, April 18 to 26, 2026.

HOME is the place where you feel safe and secure. It is the place where you care for and raise your family, taming the wild and creating an oasis amidst harsh conditions.
HOME is the place where you receive help from people through solidarity in difficult times, where you become part of a broader sense of community and empathy.
HOME is the place where you are free to transcend boundaries and dream of your future through love.

2,3)"Muhallebi"
The desire to love and be loved.
The exit that we weren't allowed during lockdown and that everyone had to invent for themselves.
Share-feeding is: those with whom you share food and the hearth.
Stories gather around the hearth.
Flavors carry memories and
smells create identity.
Time and the effort to determine it. To unfreeze it.
Not to lose life. To create.
We share life through images.
We develop strategies of survival
made of memories and dreams.
4)"Black Love" is about accepting disarray as a main state of feeling. It is about
finding the courage of making «dreams of oneself» in/or despite of a hard pressing world, and looking for a little bit of tenderness in an extremely violent and stressful environment.
5)STRANGER THAN PARADISE
A rough mountain region in Greece. The locals, living with their own rules of community, surviving with nature (non-human), some of them never having left, some returning from the alienated life of the cities. And we, with our roots in the life of the countryside, from which we are both trying to escape and to hold on to its values. Dis-rootedness and a return to our future.
January afternoon walk beside the river Aller. The legendary VW factory in Wolfsburg has became part of the landscape people feel attached to and call their home.
Critical Landscapes in Germany
New Year: The beach where we were walking to catch some winter sun, some of us going for a swim, children running around, couples making dreams for the year to come, is turning into “Athens Riviera”. Turning my back towards the construction site of the former airport, you can see the 7 shadows of grey of the mountains down to the South of Peloponnes.
"MUHALLEBI"
"Babet's meal"
The community or the village
there's room for everyone,
each with its own craziness.
There's one more plate,
someone might drop by
Let's eat together
as if it were a feast"

Home is made up of flavors and rituals, where eating means more than just having a meal. When we talk about food, we talk about stories, memories, and experiences that cross places and generations. Food nourishes memory, identity, and bonds that shape the story of who we are.
The works gathered here look at food as a ritual that keeps history and identity alive, reimagined, and shared. From the communal Ramadan table in Cairo to intimate family recipes in Greece, from archives of migration to mythic reinterpretations of the Lotus Eaters, each project reveals how food shapes our individual and collective memory.
Here, “home” is not a fixed wall but a practice of sharing, continuously reimagined with every meal, every story, every bite.

Home tastes like memory.
Every flavor, every ritual, carries stories of who we are and where we come from. 🍲

"Muhallebi"
"Beauty

youth

sweet confusion"
Muhallebi (Mahalabyia, Malebi…) is a sweet known in Turkey and the Arab countries around the Mediterranean. It gave its name to a personal photographic study about the importance of food, flavors, cooking and nourishing, which brings people together around a hearth. I combined photos from the lockdown period which tested our human urge to gather, embrace and share, with pictures of meals and the corresponding recipes and short poems on food, rituals, home and fear.
"Stories gather around the hearth
Flavors carry memories and
scents create identity.
Flavors have always traveled,
always crossed borders and broadened horizons
From East to West
and from South to North."
Dedicated to my friends and neighbors fellow “travelers” during lockdown.
