WINNER: McConnell's Distillery.
The Crumlin Road Gaol, a Grade A Listed Victorian prison built in 1845, has been reimagined into a whisky distillery. Engineers skillfully blended conservation and contemporary design, preserving stone and cast-iron features while adding bold new elements like cruciform steel columns in the bar areas and striking V-columns in the reception. A perfect mix of heritage and innovation.

WINNER: A 1970s concrete frame brought back to life. This transformed 6-storey building now provides office, community, education, and performance spaces for a charity.
Using reuse principles, minimal foundation and frame strengthening was needed—achieving sustainability and cost savings.
