♟️Recently, the four Houses of ISM faced off against @kcswimbledon in a fast-paced chess challenge. As always, they fielded a strong lineup, and this year was no exception!
Alongside Mr Byrne, his chess club, several honorary additions, and our Head of Houses, Mr Ross, players competed in a total of 95 matches over the course of just one hour. 🔥
Special congratulations to Polina (House Earhart) and Edoardo (House Baret) in Year 9 on placing joint 2nd and 7th, respectively, out of 29 participants! 👏

🏆 We are thrilled to share that this year’s ISM Early Years entry has been awarded 3rd place in the 4-7 year-old category of the David Shepherd GLOBAL CANVAS Art Competition! 🎨
This year, the competition received an incredible 2,522 entries from young artists across 82 countries, all responding to the 2026 theme, The Book of Life. From tiny insects to majestic mammals, the artworks celebrated the beauty, diversity, and fragility of life on Earth and reminded us of the importance of protecting it for future generations. 🌿
Our students’ Book of Life celebrated the incredible diversity of life on Earth while highlighting the importance of protecting endangered species and cultures. Inspired by Aboriginal art and storytelling, students from Classes 1, 2, and 3 worked collaboratively to create a meaningful and imaginative installation using both artistic creativity and recycled materials. ♻️
This recognition is a wonderful achievement for our young artists, who poured so much thought, care, and creativity into the project. From the beautifully illustrated pages to the symbolic ‘wild weaving,’ every detail reflected their passion for sustainability, conservation, and global awareness.
A huge congratulations to all of our students and a special thank you to Ms Liz Ellard, our Primary Years Art teacher, for inspiring and guiding this incredible journey. 👏

This week, we were delighted to welcome internationally renowned mathematician Dr Tom Crawford (@tomrocksmaths ).
Dr Crawford is the Public Engagement Lead and Departmental Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Oxford’s Department for Continuing Education, as well as a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at Robinson College, University of Cambridge. 🇬🇧
During his parent session, Dr Crawford shared valuable insights on “How to Inspire a Love of Maths in Children”, encouraging parents to nurture curiosity, confidence, and enjoyment in mathematics from an early age. He also met with students considering applying to Oxbridge, spent time with some of our Primary Years mathematicians before making a stop at the immersive room, followed by workshops with our Secondary students.
A huge thank you to Dr Crawford for such an engaging and thought-provoking day with all involved! 🙏

Yesterday, our Year 10 MYP Visual Arts students visited the @kamilartgallerymonaco in Monaco to experience the inspiring exhibition of renowned artist @olgasinclair_ . The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for students to engage directly with contemporary art and explore the powerful themes, cultural influences, and personal stories reflected in Sinclair’s work.
A highlight of the day was a special online Q&A session with the artist herself, during which students learned about her childhood, artistic journey, cultural heritage, and the vision behind her foundation. Olga Sinclair shared how her work and educational initiatives continue to inspire young people around the world by creating opportunities for them to visit some of the world’s most iconic galleries and museums. Her passion, creativity, and dedication left a lasting impression on our students, and we look forward to welcoming her to our school in the near future.
