I was so deeply into the whole ambient evening I forgot to take any pictures of the actual musicians, which just tells you how successful this was. what a joy to finally see @jessicamossmusic play live and what a great setting for all of it. No one is free until all of us are free.
Amazing, amazing show from @maryoverthere and @juliannabarwick tonight, even arriving late (although still in time for a great opening set from Masahiro Takahashi and crew!) and not getting a seat and therefore having an aching back could interrupt how transcendent the performances were. Thanks to the mighty @sambwmn (pictured stage right here) for letting me know about/taking me along to the opening of @shannon.gardensmith 's Dust Jacket at @mkg127 yesterday afternoon. Really cool show, highly recommended if you're in the area (this work in particular is great to see in person)
I don't buy a lot of physical objects, so this was a big week; and I didn't expect to get either by now, even! New computer was originally due for pickup next Tuesday, and I had no idea when Mothership would be in stock again but I spotted it when I was dropping off the last of my old Magic: The Gathering cards to sell. It's very funny to me that the TTRPG box is bigger than the computer one, yeah.
Forgot to post this earlier, but I loved pretty much everything about the @oklou_ show I saw last Tuesday, right down to the stage setup and lighting. It set a real mood, you know? One that went perfectly with songs from one of my favourite records of the year.
Sully! Brenda! How am I supposed to get to sleep? (No, they were lovely and gave me the bed as soon as it was clear I was planning to use it. But this was a very adorable sight upon entering the room.)
Was out doing errands and wanted to grab my one annual slushie-type beverage on my way home earlier today, and sadly I am still very susceptible to the lure of novelty convenience store options. First picture: shockingly good, one of my favourite fake "roasted garlic" flavours ever. Second: look I knew I wasn't going to love it, but I have to try all coffee crisps. I don't dislike the source material because it's "basic" or w/e, I don't even like pumpkin pie (something about the spice blend just doesn't hit for me). But this was still kinda good! I think pumpkin spice enjoyers will be happy. Coffee crisp power rankings in the comments.
Been busy and forgot to post this, but last weekend I saw @clinic_stars play at the Monarch and it was so, so great. Only Hinting is one ofy favourite records from last year and they were great live. I don't take great pictures, but as you can tell I was pretty close and it was just... I'll go with "enveloping."
So apparently "I see a stupid looking bit of brand synergy involving a meat stick and can't resist spending $2 to eat it" is a series now. This one is arguably "better" than the Fritos chili cheese one, but the taste is very much like you made an artificial version of an already artificial version of a white person taco. But with an extra, separate, distinct meat taste (in addition to the ersatz ground beef flavour) coming from the "sausage stick" itself. Truly a delight for the senses!
