MMIWG2S Vigil.
Since the inquiry into Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls, 2023, the Canadian state has done little mend the consequences of it's genoc--- against idigenous people.
Among such consequences, Indigenous Women's dissapearances being under-investigated, rarely procecuted, while they remain 6 times more likely to be murdered than the general population.
As it hard-pivots right its crucial to remind the government its duty to First Nations's people is not optional. Beyond recognition of harm, Canada must enact real, material change.
NO MORE STOLEN SISTERS ✊️
Today, on February 14th, around one hundred people gathered in Square Cabot for a march organized by @iskweu & @nws.montreal in remembrance for all the missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people across Turtle Island.
Several emotional speeches were given. Testimonies of loved ones and family members being murdered and stories of survival, notably of residential schools the last of which closed in the late 1990s.
Then, protesters marched to Place du Canada, where final speeches were shared. Food and coffee were also distributed.
Marches like these highlight the reality of the violence and erasure that indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people still face on a daily basis.

Many of the 231 calls to justice of the national inquiry into MMIWG2S remain incomplete.
Justice now! Action maintenant!
4 October 2025 - Vigil and March for missing and murdered indigenous women girls & 2S
The MMIWG2S march crossed paths with PYM’s protest and stood in solidarity with eachother
“Indigenous women and girls continue to be targeted at disproportionate rates. This day of action is important because only 2 of the 231 Calls to Justice of the national inquiry into MMIWG2S have been answered.”
Oct. 4 is the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Trans and Two-Spirit people, a day to commemorate and raise awareness about the countless disappearances, killings and violence against First Nations and Inuit people over the years.
A number of events are happening across Canada, including a Montreal vigil and march from Cabot Square at 3 p.m.
