Last December I said I would go to three shows in 2024. But turns out I have ridiculous luck with the Broadway lotteries. To the point my friends have told me to shut up about how easy it is to win because nobody wins like I do 😅.
Haunting the theater district was my favorite thing I did this year and I'll carry this energy into 2025 🎭
And if you need a recommendation on what to see, the answer is Maybe Happy Ending.

I planned to set my tree up like last year because I have so many pink ornaments now. But after I stuck a Venetian mask I bought in Italy on it, just to jazz things up, I liked how the black ribbon dangled off of the mask, and that gave me some inspiration.
So I rummaged around in the closet for this black and white fabric I knew I had. And I still thought it was missing something but then I spotted a Sephora bag on my table and voila! A new, bougie tree was born 😂. And I didn't have to buy any new materials for it!
I'd always hoped that one day I would meet NIkki Giovanni. That I would write something that was worthy of asking her to give me a blurb. And now that she's passed, I tried to think of which of her poems I should share. "Ego Tripping" seemed like a go-to (and if you haven't read that poem, PLEASE go run to read it).
But I decided to share the Nikki poem that's always resonated with me the most. I've always told friends that if I wrote a memoir, the title would be a line from this specific poem. And I think it's fitting to share it, now that she's gone. So here's an excerpt of "When I Die", by the brilliant Nikki Giovanni, whose words gave me strength my entire life 🖤
