Huge shoutout and gratitude to the incredible team behind this film 💗🫶🏽
as Black Futures Month comes to a close, i’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of joy and solidarity work in our efforts toward liberation and anti-racism.
it brought me back to a moment in the @crshortdoc , where the iconic Shanese (@mrs.gifyounasty ) an Afro-Indigenous activist and educator, reminds us that despite systemic violence and harm, we will protect our joy and create happiness in spaces that we claim as ours, and that we, Black, Indigenous, and racialized kin, deserve to feel emotions not rooted in our oppression, but grounded in our own ways of knowing.
the world feels heavy, but we hold on! 🫶🏽
