STOP MAKING SENSE a collection that brings the individual back to their true self LOOK THREE the hand sewn pearl dress made out of old Egyptian head pieces In a quickly digitalizing world where people increasingly lose themselves in an “online” ideal of perfection, causing individuals to become more alike and lose their individuality, I want to send a message that pushes back against this reality. With my collection, I aim to bring the individual back to their purest form: the form that restores individuality and places self-expression at the forefront. This collection is an ode to those who dare to express themselves, those who are loud, expressive, and refuse to diminish themselves in order to fit in. It is for individuals who dress as an act of rebellion, who use clothing as a language to show the world exactly who they are. Inspired by eras that hold deep meaning for me, such as the raw energy of punk, the unapologetic rock of the 1970s, and the power the Dolle Mina movement, they are all different periods of time, yet they resemble each other. They are connected because all these subcultures rebelled against the established order and what was considered “normal” at the time.
