It's National Greyhound Adoption Day today and we have officially had Sesame in our lives for 3 months. 3 months is an important marker for an adopted greyhound as it's said it takes 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the ropes and 3 months to understand that this is their home. We are so incredibly lucky to have this angel in our lives and we spend all day watching her do her little Sesame things. She is ridiculously sweet and curious, trusting and utterly charming. Plus she is constantly making us laugh with her little personality. Greyhounds aren't quote unquote "normal dogs" especially ones pulled off the racetrack. It takes genuine work and commitment to build a bond and help them learn to be a dog. We've put in a lot of effort over the last few months to get her to this point and we have been rewarded tenfold. She's ours and we are hers 🩷 I'm putting together a little video of all our progress which will come out soon. But in the meantime, if you're considering adopting a rescue dog, consider a small weird house horse. It's one of the best things you'll ever do. Thank you to @gapnsw for the incredible work on the frontlines finding the right home for every doggy. 🩷

The @soulmate.newtown Oat Milk Cold Brew is my FAVE little weekend treat despite being an unflinching cow's milk drinker. I only drink oat milk in this specific coffee and that's IT otherwise it is straight cow.

A tale as old as time (this literally isn't the first or the last time I buy my partner a nice edition of a movie he already owns) (If you want a $50 copy of this movie for the low low price of $49.99 let me know and I can sell it to you for cheap)

A lovely life update! My partner and I adopted a greyhound! Her name is Sesame. She's 6.5 years old and is an ex-racer. We've had her a little over a month now and we're completely obsessed with her. She's very timid but very willing to try new things and has already started to trust us and come out of her shell. Every morning she roughhouses with her little (giant) carrot and fox toys before we go for a walk, and has started to do little roachies. She's so excited to go for walks even though she still gets a bit spooked by noises and other people. She learned how to do stairs in less than a week. She's incredibly sweet natured and really funny. And she's learning slowly that we are her home and she can come get pats and love and kisses whenever she wants. I've had experience with greyhounds before when I fostered a beautiful boy a few years ago who ended up needing a different environment to thrive. (Namely a less busy suburb and a dog friend to live with) and was really emotional when we got Sesame because I felt like I had failed with my other foster. But having Sesame in our lives is a perfect example of how important it is to remove your ego from the rescue process and be matched with a dog who is going to love being in your home and fits your lifestyle, rather than try to squeeze a living being in your life who very clearly needs a different set up. Asking an animal to go against their nature so they can fit with you is not the right answer when it comes to rescues & adoption. I've wanted to adopt another dog for years but had to be patient to make sure my life was actually ready for one. I'm incredibly grateful for all the support and trust from @gapnsw as we went through the adoption process. We hit the jackpot.

How long it looks like it takes to pack all the mail club orders vs how long it actually takes! I love the process though I get to put on a podcast and lock in 😌💌
