This piece is the focal point of the Encom server room and gateway into the Encom grid. The project was conceived and coordinated by prop master @dreammakeryvr for the Tron Set Dec Dept.
The body of this panel was entirely CNC milled out of aluminum, with an anodized finish. Getting a look that can never quite be duplicated in paint. There was also a nice nod to HAL 9000 with central lens.

Another Tron: Ares highlight was the work we did on Greta Lees grid suit. The Tron Costume dept under the direction Christine Beiselin Clark entrusted IRL to fabricate all of the sculpted (non fabric) pieces on Eves suit.
We worked closely with Key speciality costumer @tannishegan , Assistant designer Summer Dietz, as well as many other talented individuals to produce this intricate suit.

We got to make a Tron disc!
This modern take on the original Tron discs was made for Jeff Bridges reprising his role as Kevin Flynn in the new Tron Ares movie.
The concept for Flynn’s disc was created by Prop master Dean Eilertson @dreammakeryvr who entrusted us with creating his vision. Concept artist for disk and costume was @alanvillanueva_art
Beyond the disc we worked closely with the films costume department to digitize and laser cut all the light windows throughout Flynn’s costume. We developed an efficient workflow for this process as we helped Costumes on numerous suits throughout production.
A very memorable project, that was awesome to see on the big screen!
And to top it all off we got to meet “the Dude”!

Under the Bridge on @disneyplus (In Canada). To tell the tragic story of Reena Virk the show needed to recreate 1997 Saanich, BC. The props team came to IRL on several occasions throughout filming for a variety of different badges and epaulettes needed to outfit the shows police department.
All badges and epaulettes were modelled in 3D here at IRL from photo reference provided. Creating the finals we’re achieved through a variety of methods from CNC machining, metal casting outsourced to jewellers, Sand casting in house, as well as 3D printed versions for non-hero characters.

Whether it be lightweight or rubber versions, stunt safe weapons or breakaways… a vast amount of knowledge and artistry come together to produce something as seeming ubiquitous as a piece of asphalt.

Was in a bit of a Insta-hiatus when this show came out, but better late then never!
If you’ve ever been through the shop and seen our display cases, you know we like swords. So we were particularly excited when the props team on Percy Jackson asked us to fabricate this sword for one of their main characters.
As an added bonus this sword later showed up at the Percy Jackson Exhibit in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. (See last photos)

Birdcane - Dead Boy Detectives

We made this lovely bird skull cane in one of the early episodes of Dead Boy Detectives. Later in the season the props team came back asking for a switch blade version. Props had figured out the look, with the blade shooting through and splitting the beak, which gave a very cool affect.
