We call Bali paradise. But paradise needs protecting. Irina’s journey started with a simple moment: floating underwater, in silence, discovering a world most of us never see. But that same world is changing. Coral reefs bleaching. Ecosystems disappearing. A reality that’s easy to ignore, until you see it for yourself. Because the ocean isn’t just something we enjoy. It’s what makes Bali… Bali. ā€œHealthy reefs mean a healthy Bali.ā€ A small reminder that being here also comes with responsibility. #TribalBali #PeopleOfTribal #ProtectBali #EarthDayEveryDay #OceanConservation

The ocean around Bali is changing. And most of us don’t even realize it. For many of us, this island is where we come to work, connect, and build a lifestyle we love. But behind it all, there’s something quietly supporting it — the ocean. And right now, it needs more attention than ever. This week’s Thriving Tribe, we’re opening up a conversation around Bali’s marine ecosystems — what’s really happening beneath the surface, and what role we play in it. Not from theory, but from real, on-the-ground experience. Irina Galjucenko, founder of DivewithFriends, has been working closely with local conservation efforts — from coral restoration to responsible diving practices. In this session, she’ll share what she’s seeing, what’s at stake, and most importantly: What you can actually do. From choosing ethical operators to understanding what ā€œno-impactā€ really means to becoming a more conscious resident of Bali This isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing small things, better. If Bali is part of your life, this conversation matters. Join us this Thursday. šŸ“† Thursday, April 9th šŸ•” 5 – 6 PM šŸ”— register at bit.ly/tribalmarinebali

Sri Lanka’s coastline has a powerful ally! We are stoked to feature the incredible work of @pearlprotectors . We recently teamed up with them to organize a River Clean Up in Mirissa together with @oceangalz and @MiSurfHostelMirissa . But cleaning rivers and beaches is just the start. The Pearl Protectors are a force for change across Sri Lanka, leading initiatives like: 🐢 Turtle nesting site protection 🪸 Coral reef restoration 🚫 Advocating against marine pollution Working with such a passionate, youth-led team reminds us that the future of our waters is in good hands when we act together. Check out @pearlprotectors to see how they are guarding the pearls of the Indian Ocean! #PearlProtectors #SriLanka #BeachCleanUp #DiveConnectProtect #DivewithFriends

Building a future beneath the surface! 🪸🌊 We are proud to highlight @bluecornerconservation and the vital work they do for Indonesia’s marine ecosystems. Together, we joined forces for a Coastal Restoration project. Blue Corner Conservation (Yayasan Blue Corner Konservasi) is doing the "heavy lifting" for our oceans: they have established an extensive coral restoration project which is the longest running and largest coral restoration project in the Nusa Penida Marine Park. Check out @bluecornerconservation to see how they are literally rebuilding the ocean’s foundation! #BlueCornerConservation #CoralRestoration #NusaLembongan #DiveConnectProtect #DivewithFriends

To protect the ocean, we must first learn to listen to it. šŸ’™ Experiencing the underwater world without the gear brings a whole new perspective on why these ecosystems are so worth fighting for. Weightless, silent, and completely in awe. What’s the most peaceful place you’ve ever been? 🐚 šŸ“ø @seenbyiza #freediving #bali #DivewithFriends #diveconnectprotect

The river has been blocked off from the ocean to stop the trash and toxins from ending up in the ocean for now, but the rainy season is coming and the river will flood. So this event is to clean it up before it all ends up in the ocean! We are also working together with local companies by the river to prevent the river from getting polluted again. Part of this is taking water samples before and after the clean up to show data to the city and businesses of the state of the river. You'll need: close-toed shoes, gloves (if you have), a hat, sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. We will be offering volunteers water and snacks throughout the day. We will also offer protective gear like boots and gloves for volunteers. Contact for more information: WhatsApp +1 8082554009 Thank you so much for your help. See you on Friday! 😊
