Reconstructed Sari made of cotton and flax. I fell in love at the Thrift store in Watsonville. I took out the seams and changed the shape and purpose completely. I used almost all of it but have some scraps to create a scrunchie or two. It still has a bit of work but so far I’ve just fallen deeper in love as I reflect on this tiny journey within the big journey of life. Just something I wanted to share because it really sparked some joy and maybe it’ll inspire someone else. There are a few videos out there of upcycled cutting off the bottom of a button down, cut the collar off (I found this collarless shirt in David’s closet, so I just had to take out mad stitches), make the ruffled collar out of bottom of shirt, and then hem the bottom all cute and cropped. It’s complete!! Here’s the story behind this creation: It all started when I fell in love with David. lol No, for real….i recently cleaned out my creation station and found these two shirts (made by @soundtribe ) that were gifted many, many moons ago. You all know I love to upcycle and make my own art out of used items and the vision came to life as soon as these were rediscovered. I was nervous at first, as these are considered vintage, but then just had to trust and surrender. I didn’t know what these letters would say rearranged and miraculously enough, I could make 9 song titles, one being MODULAR. I only had one M to work with so I had to choose wisely. Once that was a reality, the rest just came easily. I definitely had to manipulate a few letters to make dem be other letters, so that became another layer of creativity. The pillow form is brand new (but still thrifted) and I made the pillow case removable for easy care. I found another shirt with the bands logo (not sure who made it, but I’m pretty sure it’s fan made?) so added that to the back side, along with an #iriecycle tag. It is now complete! This is absolutely one of a kind, the only one that exists in the whole world. This took some hours but I really love how it came together. I hope this goes to a loving home. DM TO CLAIM.
