If you asked me to describe my 33rd year, I would describe it as a liminal space . In many ways, I now understand why they call it Jesus year 🤣🤣.

I don’t think there’s ever been a time in my life where I’ve felt so clueless especially for someone who has always gone through life with a good head on their shoulders .But, as uncomfortable and unsettling as liminal spaces are , exiting them brings you into a new realm-changed , clarified , repositioned.

So today, I’m incredibly excited as I exit 33 into 34 and look forward to everything that comes with it. I’m grateful for the Spirit of God that made me and the breath of the Almighty that gives me life. I’m grateful for slightly over 1 billion seconds on earth. I’m grateful for growth and transformation, especially the type that happens when no one is looking or applauding -self vs self. I’m grateful for the gift of a loving family , solid friends and well wishers !

Where do I even begin? Perhaps with your kindness, how you don’t just cherish your friends but make sure they #feel cherished. You extend that care in ways that go beyond words, in gestures both grand and subtle, that even your loved ones mirror that same thoughtfulness, arranging our airport pickups without us having to ask. Or how I casually mentioned that I enjoyed the moin moin at your place, and next thing I know, despite your busy schedule, you’re sending me off with a care package of moin moin, ofada, and jollof to take back to London because you listen, because you remember.
These moments may seem small to you, but never to me. They linger, leaving an imprint far deeper than you realize.
And then there’s your intelligence and work ethic, both undeniable, both setting you apart. This year, as I keep telling you, you haven’t seen anything yet. You will rise, you will be elevated, you will step into territories beyond even your imagination.

This morning I woke up and remembered the first time I visited Lagos as an adult( I’m a proud Ibadan girl ). I think it was 2010 or so and I remember being so excited and taking pictures of 3rd mainland bridge , Ozone cinema in Lagos etc.

I have no idea why this particular thought crossed my mind this morning but I guess it’s because it’s so easy to forget where you’re coming from and how far you’ve come when you’re constantly aspiring and chasing the next big thing.

So today , I’m simply grateful to God for how far I’ve come.. I’m grateful for the opportunity to travel , often on a whim ( we booked flights for this trip on Saturday and travelled on Monday). Life is very far from perfect considering real adulting issues, work dilemmas etc but we stay grounded and grateful, confident that He who began a good work in us is able to bring it to completion.. #norush
