Herzliche Einladung zur Lecture-Performance von Pascal Schwaighofer in der *ALTEFABRIK in Rapperswil.

Die Performance findet auf Englisch im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Honey Gimmicks“ statt.
Auf einer Gratwanderung zwischen Theorie und Poesie erkundet Pascal Schwaighofer die visuellen Ähnlichkeiten von Glas und Honig.
In der Ausstellung präsentiert Schwaighofer eine Reihe neuer Glasskulpturen und zwei neue Videoarbeiten, in denen er den Ökonomien und Ökologien von Honig und Glas nachgeht.
Ausgehend von seiner Dissertation in Vergleichender Literaturwissenschaft über die moderne, westliche Faszination für die Honigbiene führt Pascal Schwaighofer die Themen seiner Doktorarbeit und seiner multidisziplinären Kunstpraxis zusammen. Dabei knüpft er an sein Interesse für den Prozess der Glasherstellung an, den er für die Realisierung des Kunst-und-Bau-Projekts Water Bodies (2025) im Amtshaus Walche in Zürich einsetzte.
Hyperrealistische Überschneidungen zwischen bernsteinfarbenem Glas und Honig werden in der Ausstellung auf unterschiedliche Art und Weise sichtbar gemacht und hinterfragt. Sie werfen Fragen auf, die Schwaighofer mittels einer audiovisuellen Untersuchung der Glasherstellung, der Bienenzucht und der Verflechtung von industrieller Produktion und Domestizierung auslotet. Frühere Werke, aus den Jahren 2012 bis 2020, vervollständigen die Präsentation und ermöglichen einen umfassenden Einblick in sein Kunstschaffen.
Das Publikum ist eingeladen, über die tiefgreifenden ökologischen und gesellschaftlichen Verstrickungen von Menschlichem und Nichtmenschlichem, über die beispiellose Ausbeutung von Ressourcen und deren widersprüchliche Darstellung nachzudenken.

It’s a work that literally and metaphorically shows the red thread that runs through the exhibition. A remembrance of the wild wisdom that does not speak in rational ways, that moves in a dance that resonates beyond the oppositional logics of disdain and illusionary hierarchies, where tension can be become a tool of extended creative sensitivity. The violent rigidity of the grid, that eliminates and casts aside what does not fit in its narrow frames, can then be reconfigured into a resonant instrument of nourishment.

The fly depicts a spider weaving its web in different directions from a shadowy corner. Its abdomen becomes the link between the various elements of the exhibition and stands for a new form of communication, both internally and externally.

In terms of content, these first works – some of which can be activated by the viewer following instructions directly engraved into the piece – leave little room for interpretation, while offering material for reflection.
They embody a form of rational thinking characterised by polarised positions and clear demarcations that do not allow for any nuances.
