Something a little different 📷
The number one question I get asked is what gear I use, so as we’re setting off today for a two week road trip I thought I’d catalogue what I’m taking
I mainly switch between carrying a proper camera backpack with a larger camera body and zoom lenses covering 15-200mm full frame equivalent, or a simple sling bag with a smaller body and two pancake primes
I’ll always chuck a film camera in when we’re travelling, currently I’m mainly carrying the Ricoh GR1 but I’m also packing the XA as a backup. As for film stocks I tend to change it up a lot, but for this trip I’ve tried to pack a bunch of Ultramax as I’ve found it’s great for ‘point and shoot’ style shots, and some 100 iso films that I liked shooting in Florida a few years ago
I don’t post much video but tend to film a bunch on trips for my own reference after I get home, and I’m mainly looking purely for convenience with these bits of gear so the DJI Osmo Pocket and Osmo Nano fit the brief perfectly
Finally, some essential entertainment to pass the time on long flights, waiting rooms, and generally to have in my pocket to keep me off my phone

Old meets new at Park Hill
One of my favourite places to capture on camera, I spent a lot of time in my teenage years exploring Park Hill on the bmx looking for spots to ride, before trading that in to explore with a camera. It’s definitely a lot cleaner and feels far safer these days, but some of that gritty old charm has definitely been lost along the way.

Sheffield Central Library, home of the Graves Art Gallery is one of my go to inspiration spots in Sheffield
The gallery is found on the top floor of the library building making it a bit of a hidden gem, and as such is often far quieter than the Millenium Galleries, making it perfect for a stroll around building inspiration for your next creative project.
