Ahead of the Asian Cup final tonight I’m thinking a lot about this project. Working with Angela and the rest of the team to make this commission happen has been one of the most incredible (and insane) experiences of my career. But of course. How else to contend with the force that is The Matildas than through grit and determination and defying the odds. In this video work, Angela honours 23 players in 23 mins of resplendent footage made over 7 shoots, 5 cities and 3 continents with a beautiful soundtrack by James Brown. It is a moving tribute to a group of women who have forever changed how we think and feel about sport but it’s also an artwork that is changing how people think about art. I’ve never seen people line up to watch a 23 minute video work before, or come to a gallery dressed up in their favourite player’s jerseys to see a show. It’s magic @angelatiatia . Special shout out to co-conspirator and president to my deputy president of the NPG Matilda’s fan club @mssarahoakes . This NPG commission is on display until July

When I started at the National Portrait Gallery, and started thinking about the program, Thom was one of the first artists I wanted to showcase. Thom is making some of the most radically important portraiture in this country; it is portraiture as a way of mapping experience and making connections. Thom, it’s been an honour to work with you on this show; thank you for your trust and for my name (Neenish Cake). Hugest thanks to Studio A for all their support, and the team at the NPG – ‘The Immersive World of Thom Roberts’ closes on 20 July

It’s the final weekend to see this mighty work by Angelica Mesiti at AGNSW. I worked on this project with Angelica and the team for three years before passing the baton to the amazing Beatrice Gralton. A joy to see it come to life and so fulsomely take over the Tank - no small feat. ‘The Rights of When’ ends on Sunday

Some views of ‘Carol Jerrems: Portraits’, on now at the National Portrait Gallery. This is a show that has been crafted by the care of many people, from Magda Keaney in the early stages, working with the generous support of Shaune Lakin and Annie O’Hehir, to Pippa Milne who helped deliver this at the end. These shots showcase the exquisite exhibition design by Belqis Youssofzay - always an honour to work with you Bel. To the incredible team at the NPG, you are a dream. The show runs until 2 March - make sure you come to Canberra to see these tender, attentive photographs that offer a potent glimpse into the 1970s by one of Australia’s most important artists. No greater honour than to have been painted by the phenomenal Meagan Pelham for the Archibald. This painting means the world to me. Thank you, Meagan, for letting me live in your web of words and be part of the tribute to love and care that is your practice. Can’t wait to celebrate with you. Meagan Pelham, Highlight in the moonlight, 2024, ink, gouache, acrylic, gold and silver foil and glitter spray

It’s the final weekend of ‘Hoda Afshar: A Curve is a Broken Line’ at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. It’s hard to say goodbye to this show - my last at agnsw and a project that meant a lot from the start. A dream to work with Hoda and a privilege to be entrusted to plot out her powerful images in space.
